We stayed at the Cabin-in-the-Woods for 5 nights during our summer vacation to Yellowstone. The cabin is ~20 miles from the West Yellowstone MT entrance. The cabin is well maintained and very clean. We enjoyed the seclusion, met all of our needs, and fit well into our vacation theme.
Cabin had everything you could want for cooking, even a bread maker we used when we ran out of bread. Lots of spices, oils, condiments. Kleenex everywhere, had soap , shampoo. Best stocked VRBO we have ever stayed at. Went to another place right after down in Salt Lake City and the comparison was amazing on how much more the cabin provided. Even had split firewood for campfire. Would definitely return if I come back to area. About a 30 minute drive to west Yellowstone.
We loved our stay! Cabin has almost everything you need. However, we would have liked to have seen more cleanliness. Yes, we understand it is a cabin in the woods. Unfortunately, there were spider webs everywhere. The dining room floor was very dirty, especially food leftover under the table. Numerous areas of dust accumulations. Very easy fixes, just needs a good deep clean...
Anyone who is looking for the PERFECT place to stay, look no further! Once you visit this cabin, you will fall in love and NEVER want to leave. This is the first time my dad, brother and I have gone on a vacation together and this was the absolute best place we could have visited! This beautiful, cozy cabin is the perfect remedy to the humid Florida air that we are used to. Though this was our first time at here so we can't compare it to the summer or fall, this cabin comes alive in the winter. The way the sunlight reflects off the snow wrapped around the landscape is absolutely breathtaking! We have been on nearly every adventure this area has to offer (skiing, tubing, sledding, snowmobiling, animal watching, etc.) and each time we come home to this cozy cabin, we call it our favorite part of the day. They have everything you need prepared for you from a lit fire just as you walk in the door to a stocked pantry and leisure activities like snow shoes! One of the best gems of this cabin is the little notebook on the counter filled with entries from every guest that has stayed previously, and even those who have revisited MULTIPLE times, so the owner's can see the guest's direct appreciation and learn how to improve the experience for future comers. People from all around the world have traveled to stay in this cabin and it truly lives up to its potential. We WILL be revisiting!!!
Very Clean and comfortable. Lots of room for our family of 4 to spread out. Well equipped kitchen to cook anything! Only complaint...the upstairs sink drained very slowly, but that wont stop us from going back. Beautiful scenery! Loved our stay and are planning our next trip up there in the summer!
Our nights spent here were very comfortable. The Cabin is well-appointed with great wi-fi and all the comforts of home. Thank you! It is about 35 minutes from the west gate to Yellowstone National Park. Seeing the park from the cabin is very doable. We saw it all! I would not suggest trying to see the Tetons from here. Back to the cabin......(I digress :-) ) Magdelena was a most responsive host. We had no problems while there other then needing to reboot the satelite tv. The kitchen was well stocked with spices, dishes, pots, pans and even a crock pot. That enabled us to have dinner ready if we returned late from the park. The porch with a cup of coffee was a great way to spend an hour in the morning. The town of West Yellowstone provided basics when it comes to groceries and/or a pizza to carry home. We were with another couple appreciated the cabin setup with two baths. The fresh air was so envigorating! We had a lovely stay!
This was a beautiful place to stay, only about 30 minutes from Yellowstone Nat'l Park. The cabin is supplied with just about everything you could need. It was so peaceful and quiet here. Saw deer in the yard, enjoyed making smores in the fire pit. Only had a few small problems such as the lights on the front deck did not work, couldn't get the lights to come on in the ceiling fan in the living area, all but one light was burned out in fan in the bedroom with bunk beds, bed swayed back and forth too much when one person moved in the bed of the upstairs bedroom, surface lights did not work in microwave, and the fan in the loft did not seem to go at high speed. The clothes washer had a strong moldy smell because the filter needs to be cleaned and the tub needs to be cleaned with "AFRESH". I have this exact same model of washer at home and am certain a good cleaning with "AFRESH" would take care of the problem. These were all minor problems and we very much enjoyed our stay here at the cabin and would highly recommend it to others.
"We LOVE this house!! You have everything to make a family vacation the most comfortable, wonderful, relaxing experience!! Everything was neat and clean. We saw a fully grown bull moose in the back yard - what a wonderful surprise - so beautiful!! We watched shooting stars from the deck on Saturday and Sunday nights - sooo much fun to see them in this big-open-sky!! After hiking in Yellowstone during the day we enjoyed relaxing around the fire pit and making delicious s'mores in the evening. Henry's Lake, the nearby cattle ranch and mountains are amazing. We loved Yellowstone but honestly could have spent most of the week playing in the neighborhood! We enjoyed the sights and sounds from the front porch. Thank you so much.
We enjoyed our stay and appreciated all the upgrades amenities included. It was a great kitchen, great appliances well stocked bathrooms. We also loved that we saw a moose and a mule deer right off the back deck. Our grandkids loved the eagles best play area. Great place to stay.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful cabin! We loved the comfortable furnishings, the fully equipped kitchen, the window views and the deck to take it all in. We also had fun riding our bikes, floating Henry's Fork, and going into West Yellowstone. The Little Mermaid musical at the Play Mill was amazing! No matter what we did we were thankful to have this cabin to come back to at the end of the day. The master bed is SO comfortable, and I love your high-quality sheets. Thanks for all the Kleenex around too. Lots of little touches that we really appreciated.
We had a wonderful time at the cabin in the woods. Everything was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. We even found a bread machine and all the needed incredients to bake some homemade bread. It was a beautiful location, so peaceful and relaxing. We used the internet, but never even turned on the TV. Suggestions of things to do were helpful. We went to Mesa Falls and to the top of Sawtell Mountain (a drive that is not for the faint of heart) Both were well worth the trip. The cabin was a great base for all our Yellowstone adventures. My daughter loved the loft. We would stay here again for sure!
The Cabin has all the amenities of home to include great scenery. It is fully stocked and they even took the time to set up a small Christmas tree for us, what more could a person need. It had plenty room for the five us to spread out and with 2 bathrooms nobody waited inline. The cabin was nestled in the trees and even though there are cabins close by, you feel as though your all alone. The only draw back (small one) is the private driveway (during winter) is very narrow and does not offer a lot of room to maneuver vehicles. We had two pickups and a 2 place snowmobile trailer and it was difficult to situate everything. Once it snowed (first night), we got stuck in the driveway trying to get the snowmobile trailer out and decided to take it down and park it in a parking lot we found about 1.5 miles down the road for the rest of our stay. Beyond that the cabin is the perfect place to stay and we hope to return again soon. If your looking for a great place to stay in Island Park then this cabin will fit all your needs no matter what your adventure is.
We had a great time in your beautiful cabin. It is warm and comfy, and well stocked. We came to ride in the area and we kept our horses at Meadow View Ranch, so it was so convenient to feed and load the horses … just a walk down the hill. There was a little family of deer that moved through the yard every morning and evening. Even though there are cabins nearby it seemed quiet and secluded. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
Spent three nights here, loved every minute of out time from the time we got in until we left. Of course close to Yellowstone which we utilized as a home base. The house is very well laid out, has a good variety of cooking supplies (pots/pans etc) and each bed was very nice. The house is well constructed, we had 4 kids under the age of 4 including one infant, and even with noisy board games in the evening the bedrooms with sleeping kids were quiet thanks to the solid wood doors. The cabin actually had a highchair and baby gate to keep the little ones off the stairs. As said over and over, a great property and a great price for what you get. Only complaint we would have is the very early check out time of 10AM and the checkout asks to do 2 loads of laundry. We basically felt our last morning there was working for the rental and we had to get everyone up early and showered and then sit around and wait for the first load of laundry. Other than this though, no complaints and we won't hesitate to rent this place again!
We enjoyed our daily adventures into the Park - Yellowstone was amazing, even on the hazy fire days. We would recommend Buffalo Bar, The Slippery Otter, Wild West Pizzeria and Buckaroo Bill’s in West Yellowstone. We enjoyed the wildlife at the park and the cabin, but our grandest sighting was the grizzly eating the bison in the river rapids in Hayden Valley. Awesome. For a fun filled day trip try the ATV trip to the top of Two Top Mountain. A fantastic family vacation! Thanks for the great place to stay.
We had a wonderful time! We were kindly greeted by our neighbor’s dog (Lily, the Labrador Retriever). We also spotted moose on the way to the cabin and to the main road. While in Yellowstone, we caught a brief glance of wolves on Slough Creek and we saw at least three black bears. There were plenty of bison and elk to see when you enter the west entrance. There is a Bear Spray on the top shelf near the front door. Also, a little tip, do NOT get bear bells! The rangers call them dinner bells.
What a wonderful cabin with every amenity one could think of - even a super kind neighbor who saved our butts when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the cabin! The fire pit was awesome - thank you for supplying us with plenty of firewood! Saw deer in the backyard a f few times and heard a hooting owl nearby! Definitely peaceful! Since we’re from the south and only see flat land, marshes, and the Gulf of Mexico and Mississippi River, and alligators, it was so refreshing to see snow and mountains - it just added to the whole magic of the trip! The cabin is wonderfully close to Yellowstone, which makes it so convenient. And Yellowstone is beautiful - saw pronghorn antelope, lots of bison and elk, a glimpse of a grizzly and a wolf. Just a beautiful cabin overall! Thank you so much for allowing us to stay here!
Nice home for sure and good value for the price. The front porch was amazing and the view was great from there. We had problems with wifi and the fire pit was not usable due to vegetation growth in the area and a tree down (there may have been a burn ban also in effect though). The home was not a "remote" as I had envisioned but still very quiet and not too much car or people traffic. We did see some deer and other small animals. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to use ... we cooked almost every night and we also grilled once. I would definitely revisit if I return to the area!!!
Our family loved our stay in your cabin! We loved coming “home” every night to a quiet, peaceful place after the hustle and bustle of Yellowstone. You had everything we needed and our kids all loved that they had room to spread out. Thank you for the recommendation to ride horses at Eagle Ridge Ranch. It was a fantastic experience. We hate to leave here. It is a beautiful place.
So beautiful! Loved everything about the cabin and this amazing area. We spent a few days in Yellowstone, went horseback riding at Eagle Ridge Ranch, and made it to Bear World. We had an awesome time and loved coming back to the cabin each night. So peaceful. Can’t wait to come back!! Thank you!!
We're back! It was such a wonderful Thanksgiving here last year, that we decided to come again. There was enough snow to go snowmobiling a few times, it was great! This cabin is so homey and warm, we never want to leave. Thank you for allowing us to stay here. We had an amazing time and will most likely be back next year!
Thank you so much for this lovely getaway! We were here to run the Yellowstone Half Marathon and came away with sore legs, but nothing but joy from our experience. It was so nice to come back to a home after our long days in the Park. The kids loved the lofts and my mother-in-law loved early morning walks to Henry's Lake and around the area. Had a great time and made great memories! Thanks!
This was a nice cabin around 40 minutes to the yellowstone border. This isn't a long drive, but when you consider the further flung parts of the park are quite a drive from the border, it made for a lot of driving compared to staying in the park or gateway town. As a reward for the long drive, you get plenty of space, a fully functional kitchen, and very nice views of the mountains through the aspen trees on the front deck and great nighttime stargazing. The cabin itself was quite nice, if not extravagent. The 'eagles nest' was too high and steep for us to let our toddlers sleep up there.
What a lovely cabin! So well equipped and such lovely decor! There were three generations of our family here: grandparents, parents and granddaughters. We have had such a comfortable and wonderful time here this week. The Park was magnificent and we saw so many beautiful animals! We even went to the Wolf and Bear Park (Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone) and had close views of the animals. We left for the Tetons on Thursday and on to NC on Sunday. We've had such a great family vacation!
We arrived here New Years Day! Absolutely beautiful here! We snow machined each day in different areas. There was little snow on the Montana side...a lot more on the Idaho side! The ride to Elk Lake was amazing. We enjoyed playing with the neighbor's dog, very friendly. We didn't see any wildlife...although we kept hearing people yell "MOOSE"..."MOOSE" - LOL. We also enjoyed making snow angels. Loved the stay~ Idaho Crew! Wild Hogs!
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. We spent many hours playing games and enjoying the view. Our two teenage sons hiked around and played in the snow. We drove into West Yellowstone and did a snowmobile tour into Old Faithful and later enjoyed a fantastic dog sled adventure over in Big Sky, Montana. We now have taken our boys to 40 states. Thank you for making our Idaho adventure special!
What a wonderful place to spend Thanksgiving! Our family enjoyed this peaceful serene place. The weather was perfect with just a touch of snow! This cabin was the perfect place to gather and play games, read, laugh and watch movies. Thank you so much for allowing us to share your beautiful Mountain Lake Cabin.
We have 5 kids 6 and under and this was the perfect cabin! It was beautiful and cozy, with plenty of room for our whole family. They had anything that you could think of that you would need in the kitchen. We loved using the grill and playing in the deep snow. We also went over to the local pool to swim, we had a blast! It is very close to Yellowstone also. I would recommend this cabin to anyone!! We cannot wait to go back!
Thanks for a great week. Everything was great! Saw a black bear outside the downstairs bedroom window on the first morning! Our oldest son loved celebrating his 13th birthday here, you thought of everything … the cabin even had birthday candles! We had a wonderful time and found everything perfect. Thanks again for a great time!
Our two week vacation here has been one of the best ever! The cabin is so lovely and comfy we felt at home from the moment we arrived. We saw four deer in the back. The weather was perfect and the guys fished most days in several of the beautiful lakes and rivers. And of course Yellowstone Park, the Grand Tetons, the wildlife, the waterfalls, the scenery and more was SPECTACULAR! Enjoyed visiting Ennis, Jackson and West Yellowstone. Did a little antique shopping in Island Park too! Thanks go to Frank's brother and my dear sister-in-law for asking us to join them on this trip. Would love to come back! (sister-in-law) Wow! We absolutely loved this cabin - so "homey" and everything was ready for us! There is so much to do in this area! Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Ennis, fishing the Madison River, Earthquake Lake, Henry's Lake (my brother-in-law caught a 3 pounder at Henry's!), Hebgen, Hidden and Elk Lakes, shopping in West Yellowstone and Ennis, Island Park Lodge (we loved restaurant owner Connie and her mom), looking for animals at the Red Rock Refuge, visiting Mesa Falls, and we even went to a couple of yard sales!!! It's been a fabulous two weeks and we were sad to have to leave. Thanks for everything!!
Thank you for providing such a lovely cabin with all the comforts of home. We all loved staying here while we visited the local attractions and activities; Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, horseback riding, backpacking, to name a few. You've created a wonderful home-away-from-home.
It was a beautiful, warmly decorated home with wonderful amenities and we loved every minute of our visit. We definitely want to stay there again, as we go to Island Park often. I hope we can stay longer next time to enjoy the house more. We would have loved to spend more time out on the deck playing games or simply enjoying the peaceful spot but we were too busy kayaking and hiking in the spectacular Island Park surroundings. Our 10-year-old son especially loved playing in the Eagle's Nest and even insisted on taking pillows and blankets to sleep up there, despite the very comfortable beds in the bedrooms. We have stayed in many, many rental properties – from Pacific Grove, CA to Venice, Italy to the Oregon Coast – and the Island Park house was one of the very nicest we have ever rented. I'm so happy our dates worked with your availability.
Thank you for the beautiful cabin, it was perfect for our family of six. Our youngest son loved reading and playing in the Eagle's Nest. Looking back we wish we would have spent more time here, but did enjoy our long days in Yellowstone National Park, the Tetons, and an exciting rafting trip through Montana White Water (which we highly recommend, Alejandro was a great guide!). We did take one night to take advantage of the fire pit and had lots of fun roasting s'mores. Throughout the week we saw all sorts of wildlife (especially in the evenings in the park) including grizzly bear, black bears, moose, lots of elk, antelope, white tail deer, saw hundreds of bison (they seemed to love crossing in front of our car), and experienced a cattle drive crossing Hwy 20. We hope to come back!
Our mother's wish for her 75th birthday was to celebrate in Island Park/Yellowstone with her family. The Mountain Lake Cabin was the perfect place to fulfill her wishes - enjoying the peace and beauty of this area, seeing the wildlife (moose, elk, buffalo and even a deer right outside the window), and relaxing with loved ones - the games, books, reference guides and well-equipped kitchen added to our fun. Besides the stunning views of the park, we recommend Boondock's Restaurant, Mesa Falls, and Big Springs (where we saw a female moose in the water at sunset). Thanks for everything!
Six family members stayed at this wonderful cottage for a week. We had a great time, loved the open space, being able to make dinners together at night and loved the fire pit at night. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! We were blessed with wonderful weather while exploring Yellowstone, Tetons and Jackson Hole. Thank you! Thank you!
We stayed here for 5 nights while visiting Yellowstone National Park. Accommodations were perfect. The kids loved the Eagle's Nest and the fire pit. Having all of the amenities (bug spray, ice packs, tape, tour books) made our stay stress free. We recommend hiking to Trout Pond (Lamar Valley), Fairy Falls to see Grand Prismatic Spring, and the brink to Lower Falls. We have seen every imaginable animal. We're still on the lookout for a grizzly bear and a moose. Hope to come back again. Thank you ~
What a *Great* place! I was overwhelmed by the beauty of everything. The kids played for hours in the woods and in the "Eagle's Nest." Yellowstone is AMAZING (even when you hike an extra two miles with a 9 year old, a 7 year old, a 2 year old and a 3 month old by accident). The Eagle Ridge Ranch was great for horseback riding, even with our tiny ones. We hope to be back some time. B. S. and Family, Carpentersville, IL
Cabin was wonderful - owner was extremely accommodating. Saw abundance of wildlife - moose, bears & cubs, elk, bison & calves, marmot, eagles, swans, antelope, muskrat, osprey and chipmunks. Special thanks to Rich & Diane Hunt for their hospitality and tips on the region. And finally, to Jasper and Caroline, we appreciated all of your concern and help! Sorry our vacation is over.
We enjoyed the cabin very much! Were greeted by a small weasel on the first night. Saw horned owls, white tail deer, osprey, hawks, chipmunks, all kinds of small birds. Spent two days in Yellowstone on our motor cycles, took the Beartooth Highway, fished Henry's Lake and the Madison River in Montana. We saw buffalo, elk, bear, and other small animals and birds. Thanks so much for the use of your home!
We made a very long travel before arrive in this very nice and quiet cabin, where we passed a great trip. This was a great place for our fishing trip, it is a beautiful cabin very well equipped, stocked, and clean. During our trip we see moose (at the beginning of Red Rock Road), bison and coyote (in the Yellowstone Park), bears (in the Lamar Valley). Thank you to Magdalena for her help, we came from France for a great trip and this was the case.
We had a wonderful time visiting Yellowstone and Henry's Lake! This was a great meeting place for our daughter and son-in-law from California and the three of us from Ohio. The cabin was in a perfect location - very relaxing and peaceful! We saw two moose at the end of the road on three different occasions - very fun! Also, a momma and baby porcupine on the back deck.
The four of us had a wonderful time here. The cabin has a great layout, very well kept and stocked nicely. The views are beautiful. We made many trips to Yellowstone and it was great to have the cabin to come back to - so relaxing. We saw a moose down the road - didn't see one in Yellowstone! Thanks so much - loved it!
This is the GREATEST ever. The Eagle's Nest was the hit for the kids. They all want one at home. THANK YOU! We woke up to two moose just out the back door in the trees. One laid down and we watched her for quite some time. We also made a slide for the kids to slide down the hill just in front of the front porch and could slide almost to the road. We all had a blast. It's always the greatest if you have a snow storm while here and we did for a while. It was really pretty. We will always remember this. Thanks for the memories!!!
This was our second stay at Mountain Lake Cabin. We have enjoyed it as much as last year. Beside the major attractions at Yellowstone, we suggest Lamar Valley and the Midway Basin Geyser. We revisited Ennis, Montana and took the scenic drive to Mesa Falls. We are sad to leave this beautiful spot!
The cabin was every bit as nice as we expected based on the reviews and pictures, perhaps even better than we expected. The cabin is beautiful inside and well equipped with anything you might need. The manager was easy to work with and very helpful. The cabin is well located for access to Yellowstone NP or Harriman State Park. I have traveled extensively, and this is the nicest cabin I have stayed in to date. If there was a negative about the cabin, it was the size of the bedrooms...a little too small for a dresser; but we managed with our clothing nonetheless. With all of the other great features, this is a minor detail.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful log home with our family. What a grand vacation we had to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary with our sons and daughter-in-law! We ventured into Yellowstone, Mesa Falls and the Grand Teton Parks. The horseback riding at Harriman State Park was the best! White water rafting on the Snake River and dinner was outstanding. This was the perfect home base for our amazing trip. Thank you!
July 30-August 6, 2011 ~ Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful cabin! It was very clean, and made us feel at home. The kids absolutely loved the eagle's nest! Although we didn't see any wildlife outside the cabin, we saw two grizzlies, a bald eagle, and many buffalo and elk while we were in Yellowstone! We highly recommend Diamond P for horseback riding and Yellowstone Raft in Gardiner. The cabin was all and more than we expected! Thanks again for helping make our vacation so wonderful!
We have really enjoyed being smack-dab in the middle of "Gods Country." After driving through Yellowstone, we were pleasantly surprised to find we would be staying in a setting almost as beautiful. We found the rodeo just down the road - a deal for $5. Took advantage of the bikes and took a nice ride to the main road - 14 miles of beautiful scenery! I highly recommend the short hike to Mystic Falls in the Biscuit Basin at Yellowstone. Also make sure to take a dip in the Firehole River! We had a marvelous time and appreciated the fact that the rental home was exactly what you portrayed it to be if not better! P.S. The Eagle's Nest was great. It was our game fort (from the kids) ~
7/11-7/18/11~ The De Temple-Smith family from New Mexico celebrated being together in this joyous cabin. Highlights included nightly cookouts, gorgeous wildflowers (which we collected in containers throughout the house) and riding bicycles all over the mountains! Whew, we are exhausted! :-) It was so wonderful to visit Yellowstone and return to this "home away from home." Actually we felt the Island Park area was just as spectacular as any national park. Thank you so much for the warm hospitality! P.S. The Eagles' nest was a big hit with the kids!
We thoroughly enjoyed the week! Grandpa Chin caught fish in Henry's Lake and on a boat drifting the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. He had the most marvelous time and the cabin surely contributed to that experience. Grandma Chin loved the fireplace (don't see that often in Hawaii!). The Evans girls told stories and took naps in the Eagle's Nest and everyone marveled at the gorgeous cabin. We left left camping chairs for future guests. Bring them to the lake or the rodeo! Thanks again for such a great time and the wonderful memories. The Evans from Seattle and the Chins from Hawaii
June 27-July 6, 2011 What an amazing mountain cabin. We loved using the firepit and grill and enjoyed the beautiful views on the drive here from Yellowstone! The house was so well stocked and comfortable. Thanks for all the small touches! It was a great week for animal watching ... we saw moose while on 4 wheelers in Island Park and in Yellowstone had close encounters with bison and their new calves plus elk, a black bear, coyote, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, squirrels and bald eagles. What an amazing week out here in Idaho and Wyoming and we are so glad we spent it at the Mountain Lake cabin! Thanks again for providing a very well-appointed and cared for cabin for our very memorable Yellowstone adventure. We very much appreciate all the work you two put into maintaining the cabin in such excellent condition and providing for all of your guests’ needs. Thanks so much! P.S. We also loved the warm weather, we were told we must have brought it from Virginia.
Every year our 2 families come together to vacation together. This year we chose Yellowstone, and we are so very glad we did. The cabin is wonderful! Everything that you could imagine, this cabin is equipped with. It is tucked back far away from the hustle and bustle, and so very quiet. We have 2 boys in each family and the cabin provided the PERFECT yard for them to play. We saw lots of beautiful birds out front. Just down the road we saw 2 moose too! The flowers we in full bloom and oh sooo pretty. We geocache as well and were able to locate a geocache not far from the cabin in the exact spot we saw the 2 moose just a couple of days before. We could not have asked for a more perfect place to vacation then this wonderful cabin. Each day we ventured in to Yellowstone Park and by the evening, we were worn out. Coming back to the cabin was so relaxing and tranquil. Thank you for letting us experience this in your cabin! Our boys each loved it as well. Ages: 10, 12, 15, 15. The neighbors are so very nice and friendly too. Each day the boys would be outside, the neighbors came to the fence and were glad to speak with them and wave to us as we came and went. It was like a home away from home. We would reccommend this cabin to anyone!!! It was AWESOME!!
6/11-6/18, 2011 After our long days in Yellowstone and The Grand Tetons, the cabin was the perfect place to unwind and spend time with family! This was a dream vacation for us and the cabin just added to a fantastic week. We wish we could stay longer, but our time here will be treasured for a lifetime. Thank you for everything!
Three good friends enjoyed a superb week at this charming vacation home near Henry's Lake. Although we had snow in late May, the weather was otherwise perfect for the numerous day trips we took to Yellowstone National Park. An ideal setting for a gathering of friends or family, this vacation home was a wonderful place to retreat to nature and enjoy a respite from the hectic life. Many thanks to the owners and property managers!

June 4-11, 2011 What a lovely, comfortable and well stocked cabin we got to enjoy! We had a great time and loved having the freezer packs, cooler and bread machine available. We also own a vacation home at the beach and I will rethink having our unit as well stocked. Being foodies, we enjoyed cooking with our young adult children and the daily bread baking rituals. We loved the fireplace with the unexpected cold temperatures. We got to hike in the rain, snow and sleet and enjoyed our family time together. What a blessing to share your comfortable home in God's great creation of Yellowstone and surrounding areas. Thank You~
We stayed at the Mountain Lake Cabin from February 17-21, 2011. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the cabin. The cabin had several amenities, including cookware, miscellaneous food items, dry goods like spices and coffee, extra towels, and a washing machine/dryer. It was very comfortable and felt like home. The management staff was accommodating and easy to work with. We loved our stay in this area. We enjoyed snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and a snow-coach into Yellowstone/Old Faithful. It was very cold (with lots of snow and some ice, so be careful). We wanted the snow experience being from Texas. The scenery is beautiful. I love this area. The only negative is maybe the lack of fresh meats and variety of fresh fruits at the local grocer, so you may want to consider shopping in Idaho Falls before you arrive.
Thank you for your wonderful comments. We love hearing what our guests have to say about our home, because we too enjoy this lovely area year round. It's true that the little markets near by are lacking in many fresh foods, but they do offer the basics (milk, eggs, bread, etc.) Please note that there are two grocery stores in West Yellowstone that have a great selection, including fresh fruits, vegetables and meats. Guests can shop there after a trip into Yellowstone Park. Also, when you're headed up from Idaho Falls on Hwy 20, there is also Dave's market in Ashton.
December 27-30, 2010 - We had a great time in your lovely cabin! We spent one day on snowmobiles - rode to Mesa Falls and saw two moose! The snow is beautiful, I don't think it has stopped snowing since we've been here. Also had a delicious dinner from Pond's and some of us enjoyed the Day Spa. A group of seven from, ID, UT, WA, NC, and Shanghai China~
November 24-28, 2011 Holy snowfall, Batman! 4 ft. of snow, chains, and 4x4 and we had a wonderful time! It was quiet and relaxing and we even got to see a moose and her calf on the drive in. The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed to have a wonderfully memorable stay. We'll definitely be back!
September 25-October 2, 2010 We really enjoyed our week in your Beautiful, well-equipped home. Everything we needed was here and we were very comfortable. It was such a nice place to "come home to" after long days in Yellowstone and Grand Teton. We got some really great photos of buffalo, elk and the color change of the trees was magnificent. Thanks for absolutely perfect weather too. Hope we can return some time soon. Breakfast at "Henry's Cafe" at the Henry's Lake station, north on Highway 20, was fun and friendly! Thanks for the hospitality.
September 18-25, 2010 Thank you Livengoods! We bid on the cabin at the fundraiser for the Children's Therapy Center (and won a week's stay). Comfortable, lovely cabin in a beautiful setting. We saw no wildlife around the cabin, but the coyotes have been noisy every night. We went to Yellowstone twice, Bozeman, Ennis, Virginia city - took long walks. Shared the cabin with longtime friends from Indiana and had overnight visits from other friends from our home town. PS: Saw a moose in the trees on our last morning!
September 4-12, 2010 Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful cabin! Five of us traveled from Ohio and two from New Jersey. We had a wonderful time and experienced the wonder and beauty of Yellowstone and The Tetons. So much wildlife "crossed our paths" including a grizzly bear, coyote, elk, bison, pronghorn, mule deer, osprey, bald eagles, red-tailed hawk, ravens, swans, cranes, and we also saw the red fox that lives in the culvert down the road. What an amazing country we have!
August 28-September 4, 2010 We had such a great time last year at the Yellowstone Vacation Home that we just had to come back to see new territory. The Cochranes and the Kelleys gathered from Wisconsin, Washington and Tennessee. The cool weather brought out the wildlife because we saw a very wide variety - more bears than we could shake our knees at: one black bear 60 yards away on Elk Creek and a grizzly running fast at Gibbon Meadow. There's a fox that lives by the culvert about a mile east of the cabin. As with last year, the house was lovely and you'd thought of everything. We had a great time.
August 21-28, 2010 Thank you so very much for such a perfect cottage [home]. The weather was perfect and the climate within the home remained at a perfect temperature. Ceiling fans helped with that. You thought of everything when you built this home and it has more than anyone can expect for a rental. We hope to return again in a few years. For a break from the crowds of Yellowstone, we thoroughly enjoyed taking a day trip to the Centennial Valley to visit the Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge and dine at the Elk Lake Resort (406) 276-3282. Thanks so much!
We had a wonderful time. The accommodations at the cabin were perfect. You provided everything that was required for our entire stay. We took your advice on the markets to do our shopping (at West Yellowstone) and had a wonderful meal at Island Park Lodge. Not only was the food (fresh trout) and service first class, but the view of the lake was spectacular. The cabin location is ideal for visiting Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. I will certainly recommend your rentals to any friends visiting the area in the future.
Our family including my husband, daughter, and mother/father in-law enjoyed a wonderful stay. Magdalena was so helpful and accommodating answering our questions prior to making the trip from Iowa to Idaho. The property was a wonderful retreat to cook dinner, relax around the fire pit and enjoy the peace and quiet after our many day trips to Yellowstone. The cabin is even more warm and inviting than the pictures reflect and was exceptionally maintained. The beds were very comfortable, and most everything we needed was provided. Our daughter (8) LOVED the Eagle's Nest. The entire trip was amazing. We would highly recommend this property, and we hope to be back again and again!
June 19, 2010 We have really enjoyed staying in your cabin this week. It was very easy to make ourselves at home and relax! Our girls, Gracie (7) and Ava (6) loved the Eagle's Nest and making smores at the fire pit. We had a visit on Thursday evening from a young male moose out front. How neat! We enjoyed long days in Yellowstone (saw a grizzly and cub) and even Mesa Falls (beautiful!). Thanks so much.
April 28-May 5, 2010 Wonderful visit. It was so relaxing and peaceful. Great getaway from work. We enjoyed a day trip to Jackson Hole, saw tons of moose. Loved the drives into Yellowstone - saw wolves, moose, elk, deer - everything but a bear! The cabin was stocked with everything we could think of. Thank you so much for allowing us to share your home. Also, thanks, Magdalena, for fixing the 1-800-service on the phone. I was able to call home and check on the kids. Maybe next trip we can bring them! PS: Imax is closed on Mon. & Tues. Found out the hard way :(
April 12-15, 2010We loved your cabin! It was in a beautiful location and was fun to be away from everything for a while. Yellowstone wasn't open but we did get to drive into Yellowstone and enjoy the wonderful view. Thanks for the wonderful few days. We will keep this in mind next time we come to Idaho! The kids enjoyed shoveling the snow and watching the new snow fall!
2/7 - 2/13/10 Excellent stay! Being grain farmers from Manitoba, any time we can get away and see the mountains is great. Perfect location for snowmobiling and being away from traffic, and hustle and bustle along Hwy 20. Cabin was great - would like to bring kids next time and try some skiing at Big Sky. Excellent vacation! Thanks,
September 19-26, 2009 Once again we had a great time and enjoyed this wonderful cabin. The weather was absolutely awesome for the entire week - much better than in May '08. No snow this time, but we didn't see as many animals. We drove to the top of Sawtell Peak and loved the view but it was very windy. The Upper & Lower Mesa Falls were beautiful. We also saw Cave Falls and hiked up to Bechler Falls. It is an easy walk and well worth it. A pamphlet says the bugs are bad in summer, so now is the best time to go - it was just beautiful. We also saw Old Faithful and hiked to the observation point. We drove up to Bozeman and then to the Tower-Roosevelt section to walk over the suspension bridge. That was well worth it too. We walked along, then up to the lake where we had a campfire and enjoyed the stars, hearing the cows and coyotes. We also enjoyed the museum in West Yellowstone. Thanks, Magdalena for everything.
September 12-19, 2009 The cabin was gorgeous and everything the previous guest had said and more so. It was well stocked - it was a pleasure staying here. The scenery and wildlife were absolutely breathtaking. We would definitely come back again and again. Thank you for everything!!!
September 6-12, 2009 We had a great time - could have used a few more days to get in all the sights. Everything was breathtaking. We never saw a bear, but did have cows outside our cabin one morning...it was awesome. The cabin was perfect. It was well equipped with things I may never have thought of. Very clean and comfortable, but most of all cozy. I will definitely recommend it to family and friends. Thanks for everything and for making our stay comfortable - hate to leave.
All of us had a great time in this lovely, well equipped cabin. Coming back to cook, chat with friends, relaxing etc. were the most exciting things for everyone. We took a lot of pictures which will definitely bring us wonderful memories in our life without question. The Yellowstone trip has been an incredible vacation for us. We enjoyed Old Faithful, Mammoth Hot Springs, Norris, West Thumb, etc. Thank you for sharing this amazing, peaceful, quiet and well supplied cabin with us. We do appreciate everything here. In addition we will definitely recommend this cheerful home to others. Thanks so much again and May God Bless This Home and your family.
Great place to stay! 15 minutes from West Yellowstone activities and 5 minutes from Island Park Activities like rafting, horseback riding and ATVing. Whether you want to stay at the cabin area or head to yellowstone it's a wonderful cabin for all! My family of six split the 6 days up into viewing yellowstone and Island park activities. It worked out great!
August 5-12, 2009 Our family LOVED your delightful cabin in the woods. This place is wonderful inside and out! We were very RELAXED here - most relaxing vacation in a while! Yellowstone was beautiful, but we saw almost as much wildlife here at the cabin and on the road up here. Saw a large male moose in the woods between here and Highway 20, then a large buck deer on the back lawn. He didn't even spook when we went out on the deck to take pictures. Just really enjoyed our time here - thanks for sharing your piece of heaven with our family. Rodeo at Meadow View was a unique experience. Horseback riding at Harriman State Park was a good choice too! Thanks for all of your help, Magdalena - every detail was taken care of. P.S. Our kids loved the Eagle's Nest too!
July 29-August 5, 2009 We two families had a great week. The cabin was fantastic. All the kids loved the Eagle's Nest. The gents cooked up a storm in the kitchen and even used the bread machine. The cabin could not have been better stocked; it was like taking over someone's home for the week. The surroundings of the cabin are so peaceful. We had a great walk up the road and into the aspen forest. Never saw any wildlife bigger than a moth at the cabin, but saw at least one of everything at Yellowstone and Teton. Also had a great float down the river via Mack's Inn Rentals near the cabin; at the river's edge we saw a bull moose up close and personal. By the way, we had great ATT service for our iPhones at the local lakeshore (Henry's Lake).
July 26-29, 2009 This vacation was quickly put together and we are so thankful we found the Mountain Lake Cabin online! What a cozy, comfortable place to come to each night after driving around Yellowstone. Magdalena was so helpful in letting us come for just three days - to fill in her summer's rentals and give us a great experience. We had all we needed - even the hair dryer I forgot to pack! The Tetons are also wonderful - hiking to Taggert Lake was so beautiful. We went whitewater rafting there on the Snake River and I can recommend Jackson Hole Whitewater as a great organization. Went up Signal Mountain in the Tetons - saw a mother black bear with her two cubs up a tree! They were so cute, but when they came down we were sure to be in our car! This a a super house location! Thanks again. PS - Ellie wants an Eagle's Nest at home to do homework for her senior year! All age kids love it!
July 9 - July 12, 2009 We loved the cabin so much - it was wonderful! Our favorite vacation house ever! At Yellowstone, we saw grizzly and black bears, coyote, bison, bald eagles and their nest, lots of elk and deer. We also saw deer right outside the cabin in the yard. P.S. The Riverside Cafe on the other side of Quake Lake on Rt. 287 was awesome for lunch!
July 8, 2009 We had a great time. The kids really enjoyed their vacation. We got to see many animals in the park. The kids became junior rangers. It was a beautiful time and we loved seeing the snow on top of the mountains in July. Everything was WONDERFUL! Thank you once again for allowing us to stay in this wonderful home - we couldn't ask for any better place to stay.
6/21-6/27/09 We were very happy during our stay here. The house had everything we needed - it was comfy, beautiful and relaxing. Our favorite part was drinking coffee and enjoying the view in the morning, followed by doing the same with wine in the evening after a day exploring Yellowstone. Thank you so much. The Cook Family Elk Grove, CA Magdalena, Thank you for all the help and advice in planning this trip. If not for you we would have stayed at a closer location without the wonderful amenities!
June 19-21, 2009 We were so lucky to be able to stay for 2 nights here. We wish we could stay longer (we wondered if the next guests would mind!). We loved having a fire in the evenings, hearing the animals, and simply sitting around the fireplace visiting. We've never had such a relaxing place to stay at night. We hope to bring more of the family and visit regularly. Thank you and Cnacubo!" Rick, LeAnne, Ray, Rose, Rodney & Ksenia Bismarck ND, Linton ND, Minneapolis MN & Russia.
June 8-12, 2009 Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. We felt completely at home, made even more welcome by all the "little touches" like cooking and food items and the Pack & Play. After spending our first planned night sleeping in our cars caught behind the road closure at Norris in Yellowstone, your comfortable beds were a welcome site! God's blessings on you and your family. Thanks again,
June 2-9, 2009 All eight of us loved the cabin a lot. It was so beautiful and had everything we needed, so close to a beautiful national forest. It rained every day and snowed once, but we still were able to do all the sight seeing we wanted. Bruce was here quickly for any trouble. Thanks, Bruce. There are so many things to do and see in Yellowstone - a week isn't enough. But we also had a great time within a few miles of the cabin!
May 19-22nd, 2009 Thanks for sharing your wonderful cabin with us! It was very well equipped with most everything anyone could need or use in their own 'home.' I love the furnishings and the beds were very comfortable. We had a great time seeing all the wildlife in Yellowstone Park. We saw lots of buffalo, two grizzlies, elk, sand hill cranes, eagles and antelope. We even saw elk and a coyote on Red Rock Rd. But the kids enjoyed feeding the muskrats, trout, ducks and seagulls at Big Springs the best. They also enjoyed fishing at the Reservoir and caught two Rainbows. We have rented cabins similar to this one in the Black Hills and The Smokeys and I would say this was definitely the nicest! Very homey and quiet. Truly a vacation! We'll definitely recommend this property to others who might be vacationing this way. Thanks so much! Ken and Lana Hyrkas, Logan (15), Grace (14), Jack (11), Evan (9), and Claire (8). We're from Calumet, Michigan (in the upper peninsula of Michigan - Lake Superior Country!)
Memorial Day Weekend 2009 We are the Goffs from Kaysville, Utah and Syracuse, Utah - myself, my husband, our son and wife and our grand kids. We really enjoyed the family togetherness and everyone loved the cabin and its great setting. The kitchen was better stocked than any other vacation home I have visited in the past. This made preparing meals for a large group worry free and easy. It was also nice to be so close to good fishing. It allowed us to fish in the morning and then return again in the evening without much of a drive. Our son went into Yellowstone, took some short hikes and saw lots of animals, especially enjoying the new little ones. We went into West Yellowstone, shopped and then drove to see "Quake Lake." It was so interesting. We were both 16 when it hit and felt it in our homes in Utah. The visitor center was very educational. Our grand kids want to see it today before we head home. Great location. Thanks for a nice visit and for sharing your home with us! The Goffs
December 23 - 31, 2008 To the Owners: Location, location, location. How refreshing it was to stay in a cabin and not hear anything other than what was going on outside (re: wind, snow falling, etc.). The beauty and views from the cabin itself and the way you furnished it is admirable. We honestly can't say that there was anything we needed that you did not provide. A huge kudos for the Managers of the cabin. They were at our beck and call. Never a call missed or a concern not addressed. We have rented many times in Island Park and never received a call from the Property Managers to see how things were going or address any concerns. Not only managing other properties, it felt as though we were the only ones that they had to look after (although we do know this was not the case). Having been in the hospitality industry for many years, I commend both of you for your concern and care of our stay at Mountain Lake Cabin. It was so comforting to know that you were there. For any future snowmobilers, snowshoers, etc., this is the place for you. True beauty, tranquility and the comfort of knowing you have Magdalena and Bruce as your Property Managers, nothing can touch it. It was "our" pleasure getting to know you both and appreciate the extreme hard work that you do. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely will be back. Happy 2009 New Year to You!
9/20 - 9/30/08 Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin with us. It was a relaxing place to come home to after a day of exploring the park and surrounding area. We saw a lot of wildlife, but we were not able to find a moose. God Bless - Craig, Leslie, Jenna, Wesley, Calvin Hurty, Windsor, CT
Clean and well maintained property that is well equipped for a comfortable stay. Great rental experience from start to finish. Location is very convenient for frequent visits to Yellowstone, but there are things to see in the immediate area as well. Secluded, but not difficult to get to. Highly recommended.
9/16 - 9/20/08 Thank you for sharing with us your lovely cabin. We had a great time with our friends. The kids loved the opportunities to get to know nature: chipmunks and squirrels are their favorites. This place also provided a great relaxing atmosphere for us city bees from San Francisco and for our friends from Hong Kong. Thanks, Karl & Betsy and Bruce & Magdalena, for everything! Love, Kat & Charles, Anita & Ben, Mark and kids: Sean, Max and Abby.
9/7 - 9/12/08 Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your beautiful cabin. This was our first trip to Yellowstone and we were definitely awed by the beautiful vistas. Saw many, many bison and some elk and three pronghorn - however, we were hoping to see a moose or two and some bears, but that didn't happen even though we traveled almost every inch of the park. Oh well, maybe next time. Thank you once again for the use of your cabin. We were not at all disappointed. Your website is very good and the driving directions you gave us were great. The Null and Schoppe Families
29/8 - 5/9/08 We had a wonderful family vacation at your beautiful cabin. Visited almost all of Yellowstone and saw elk, moose, pronghorn, coyote, black bear, bison, trumpeter swans, and bald eagle. Elk were always on the south side of the west entrance road about half way in, in the afternoon. Moose seemed to be near the petrified tree mid afternoon. Pronghorn in the field east of Highway 20, just north of Red Rock Rd. Bison were everywhere in the Park. Visited Grand Teton also. We came back through Yellowstone in the evening and it only added a half hour and provided more wildlife sitings. While you're at Grand Teton if you have the energy, take the hike to Inspiration Point!! It's well worth the effort. Karl, Betsy, Bruce and Magdalena, we can't tell you how great it was to come "Home Sweet Home" after all of our very long days. Thanks you all for the Hospitality. The Mirisciotti's, Dayton, OH What a wonderful, peaceful tranquility you shared with us! Thank you! Robbie
August 2008 - Jeff & Paula McKinney, Canterville, IL Thank you for the use of your cabin. This was the first time we have ever done something like this. Your cabin is wonderful. I caught myself just looking around - it's so beautiful. And of course bear hunting - never saw one around your cabin, but was hoping to (from a distance that is). Anyway, thanks again. We will remember this time forever. P.S. It really felt like home. (I could get used to it). August 2008 - Karla & John Burton What a great place. Everything was so nice and well stocked and equipped. We did not see a black bear here - was hoping - at a distance of course. We did see one in Yellowstone in the northern section. Yellowstone is as wonderful as we imagined, a real treasure of a park. The only problem was running out of time - we stayed here for 6 nights. Mesa Falls was one of the best waterfalls we have seen - just down south of here a few miles. The Grand Tetons is also a gem. Thanks so much for the wonderful cabin. Thanks to Magdalena for all her help - good, nice management. Loved it all. Karla and John
8/9/08-8/16/08 The Stam Family from Rumpt, the Netherlands also known as Holland The house was great! As we had hoped Yellowstone and the surrounding area are tremendous. We were very lucky to see a grizzly crossing Route 20 between Island Park and West Yellowstone. This was on Tuesday. The next day we saw a black bear and her cub in the morning near Tower Falls. An hour later we saw a larger black bear. To make our luck complete we also saw a coyote, a herd of buffalo, two foxes and of course many elk throughout the week. Yesterday we rented 2 small ATVs and drove around the Island Park area where we almost ran into a huge moose. We got a picture! Willem, Tineke, Roely (13) and Marlena (10). P.S. I discussed our grizzly sightings with a very nice and knowledgeable ranger. After my description of the event he wisely concluded: if you think it was a grizzly and not a black bear, then I am sure it must have been a grizzly! When I retire I plan to come back to be a ranger!
July 28-August 2, w2008 What an incredible home - and that's what it felt like when we drove up every night after a long day of exploring Yellowstone - we were blown away at the beauty of the location, the closeness to the West entrance, how well stocked it was and the amenities of the cabin. I especially enjoyed my coffee and prayer time on the front porch in the mornings, and a glass of wine by the firepit in the evenings. Coming from Florida, we especially looked forward to the cool temperatures in the morning. Thank you so much for a vacation getaway memory that we will always cherish. If you are looking for wildlife in the park, try Lamar Valley (saw bleak bear, coyote, wolf, buffalo and elk) - also if you have time, go to Mammoth - 50 elk were resting on the hotel lawn. We did not see any wildlife on the cabin property but did see two moose just off Red Rock before you get to Highway 20. If you come in the summer, enjoy the wildflowers in the meadow behind the house - collected quite a bouquet for my wife. Thank you for letting us enjoy a little piece of heaven on earth! George, Jennifer, Alexis (17), Lindsey (14), Lloyd (12), Luke (6) - the Woods family, Tampa, FL PS We loved the Eagles nest! Beautiful place - I especially enjoyed making bread in the bread maker. It was delicious and now I'm getting one for my birthday :) Jennifer Woods We saw two mule deer- Luke Woods
We had a nice time here even though we didn't see any animals :) ! Island ?ark is a very beautiful place with the falls and the springs. If we hadn't stayed in Island Park, we probably wouldn't have visited the Mesa Falls, Big Spring (the fish there are so big, they really like the small red berries) and Harriman State Park. We enjoyed cooking on your grill, it was so convenient. The house is very well equipped and thanks for coming and fixing the phone. The rodeo was fun! Marion Richter, Olney, Maryland
July 20-27, 2008 What a wonderful experience we all had here in the cabin in the beautiful state of Idaho! Perfect drive to see wildlife, Yellowstone (Old Faithful) and the Tetons. Most of the shops are very good to browse in West Yellowstone. It was by far the best vacation! The Groh's of MN This is our second trip to Yellowstone. Our last adventure we stayed in the Gardiner home. We have had a great time both trips. Both of your homes have been very nice and in great locations. We went to the Tetons this time which I would recommend to everyone. Thanks for a great time. The Groh Family, MN
July 13-20, 2008 Karl and Betsy, we love your mountain cabin. This is a beautiful location and so peaceful. Your accommodations in the cabin are perfect. Thank you for sharing your lovely place with us. We had so much fun staying here with our daughter, son-in-law and their three grandchildren. We all enjoyed Mesa Falls very much. It is not far from this cabin. The Livengood family, Tennessee Uncle Karl and Betsy, what a fantastic place!!! The children loved the eagle's nest and having the loft to get away from the grown-ups. The wildflowers are beautiful this time of year. We highly recommend the Meadow Vue Ranch Rodeo!!! We had a great time exploring Yellowstone! What an amazing place. We hope to return soon!!! The Morgan family, Ohio
July 7-July 13, 2008 Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful home. You thought of everything that a family would need being so far away from home. We really enjoyed seeing close-ups of all the wildlife. A beautiful deer visited us here at your house. The boys enjoyed the crow's nest and their hikes with their dad. They toasted smores on the campfire and will be talking about this adventure for a long time. Yellowstone is magnificent but will require another trip to see and explore. We went horseback riding at Harriman State Park and had a great ride. The Pines restaurant has a great menu with mouth-watering desserts. Our vacation will be remembered forever and you helped make it possible. Thanks again. Kim, Mike, Michael, Kyle, Miles and Grandma Fran~ Sebastian, Florida.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous mountain home - we loved the openness of the cathedral ceiling in the dining and living areas, the coziness of the bedrooms with the oh so comfortable beds and luxurious linens. Such great extras. Everything we needed was there in the kitchen for cooking, grilling (propane), crockpot slow cooking. Spaces were well planned for cooking and talking to friends, family dinners inside or on the decks, gathering in the livingroom or in the loft for a dvd. If we'd had kids, we know they would have loved the "eagle's nest" play area accessed by pine log ladder indian cave dwelling style (well, not that high but a sturdy ladder none the less). We liked the location - the surrondings are breath taking and the West gate of yellowstone and lots of wildlife is just 35-45 minutes drive away. Dave's Jubilee grocery store in Ashton was a great find after talaing toe loop dirve to the Upper and Lower Mesa Falls. Dave's has great meats, good veggie and fruit selections plus yogurts, Slik soy milk and other surprises. We stocked up and had a great week of cooking, eating and picnicking as we took hundreds of phots of wildlife and nature in Yellowstone and the Tetons. Thank you so much for such a great home away from home! Ann and Doug
Generally it only takes 30 to 35 minutes to get to Yellowstone Park. Only when traffic is heavy on Highway 20 and in West Yellowstone the drive will take longer.
June 30-July 7 Is it time to leave already? We have stayed many places but this home beats them all! It's been said in this guest book many times, but it really is nice to have all the extras provided. This week was full of fun experiences for us all - horse back riding, rafting down the Yellowstone River, sightseeing in Yellowstone and the Tetons. July 4 at Jackson Hole - best fireworks we have ever seen! Best animal viewing time is just before sunset, which for us was about 9.00. We saw wolf pups, black bear, antelope, elk with babies, bison and moose. The moose population seems to be down right now, or maybe we weren't at the right spot. Your home is wonderful- and it most definitely felt like home! Thank you so much! Rod, Jeanne, Alex and Sami Pierce Danvers,IL
We have greatly enjoyed our stay here! The cabin is lovely and we couldn't have asked for a better cabin or better location (although there were some long drives). We were able to enjoy the beauty of both Yellowstone and Grand Tetons by way of horseback, chuck wagon, photo safari, white water rafting and just our own adventurous hikes. We have taken great photos and kept great memories. Thank you for sharing your cabin. It truly was a great place to come home to after a long day of adventure. We hope to return soon. John, Tracy, Elizabeth, Megan and Brian. Cypress, TX. Our recommendations: Horse back riding - Diamond P Ranch near West Yellowstone Photo Safari - Jim Laybourn (wyomingphotoexperience) White water rafting - Mad River (Jackson Hole Wyoming) National Museum of Wildlife Art (Jackson Hole)
June 7-14, 2008 Great and awesome cabin! Did move in in a heart beat. Weather didn't cooperate but enjoyed our trip back to Yellowstone and Jackson area. Temps ran from 30's-40's with some snow and rain throughout the week. Saw many critters and even had a doe stop by the cabin a couple times. All in all a super week. Ron and Sue Smith
We had a wonderful time in this great cabin. We want to thank Magdalena for all of her help and information about the area. She carefully followed-up on every question we asked. Also thanks to Karl and Betsy for the use of their lovely home. This is the first time our family visited the Yellowstone and Teton parks. We usually vacation in the Smoky mountains. We saw lots of wildlife in Yellowstone, including many bison and their babies running around playfully butting heads - they were cute. We also saw elk, a moose, a bear, five wolves, several bald eagles, and a coyote. Up by the North entrance we saw bighorn sheep and a baby mule deer jumping into the woods. We had beautiful spring weather for three days, then two days of winter with snow, and then spring again. The mountains were beautiful with the snow. Thanks again for making this a relaxing and enjoyable place to stay and return to in the evening. Ken and Lisa, St. Louis, MO
12/27/07 - 1/5/08 To the owners Karl and Betsy: This was really a pleasure visiting your cabin. Our family comes from South Africa and what a special time we had spending in your cabin, the woods and peace and quiet. The kids (two girls aged 9 and 7 years) really enjoyed all the snow AND the Eagle's Nest! This has been an experience that would last us almost forever! Thank you, Karl and Betsy, for giving us the opportunity to share your cabin. To Magdalena: Thanks a million for helping Trevor with all the details that he requested from you. Thanks for the clean cabin. We traveled from Florida, Miami, down here and all the motels we spent our nights in don't come near the neatness as well as cleanliness of this cabin. Thanks again! Trevor and Maureen Jacobs, and Marius, Michelle, Rolene and Bernelee Fourie (South Africans that will be very sad to leave behind something so beautiful, quiet and peaceful! Regards, 6 grateful South Africans
December 22nd - 27th, 2007 Merry Christmas! We had a picture-perfect Christmas vacation. We were able to escape our busy lives in the city, to this beautiful and clean Mountain Cabin. It was wonderful! We put up Christmas lights, cut down a Christmas tree, drank hot chocolate, ate lots of delicious holiday food and sweets, played board games, watched movies, opened our Christmas gifts and relaxed. It was awesome! We had Grandma and Grandpa, their two married sons and their wives, and two small grandchildren here. In fact, the children slept in their cribs in the eagle's nest! Thank you for such comfortable accommodations; it made a difference to our stay. Thank you for the children's gate, high chair and crib. It saved us less things to pack. Thank you for an excellent manager to work with via email. We loved our time here! It's hard to leave. It was great to have such a nice place to stay, yet close enough to home. The Petersen Family ~Idaho and Utah~
November 22 - November 26, 2007 (clear blue skies and crisp white snow). This was our first Thanksgiving away from home - and what a beautiful and special place to spend it! As a current Philadelphia resident I frequently long for tall peaks and craggy landscapes - so what a treat it was to have them in such abundance here. I loved waking each morning to see the crisp snowy woods at my bedroom window. The peace and calm here are incredible. Also: we've got a few photographers in the family and you can imagine what a field day we had with all this beauty. I can't wait to go home to print the photographs! Thanks for a lovely holiday. Allegra To Betsy and Karl - Since we arrived here after dark, I had no idea of the beauty of this incredible home (hardly a cabin). When I stepped out of the hot shower (upstairs) and opened the blinds I saw a sight I hadn't seen in umteen years - the grounds and the branches covered in glistening snow. What a treat to have been here at this time. Thank you. Truly, Fran Raboff It was wonderful to have 3 generations of Raboff/Gordon women here for a lovely Thanksgiving. Barry, a great multi-tasker, husband, son-in-law and father, always brings his spirit of adventure to a trip. Thank you so much for providing a beautiful home base for our fun adventures. Laura The Raboff/Gordons from Walnut Creek and Berkeley, CA, and Philadelphia, PA! (From Fran, Barry & Laura, Allegra).
October 13th - October 17th, 2007 First, we would like to graciously thank Magdalena, rental manager, for all of her excellent and timely communication with us as we prepared to travel here from Oregon! She was so patient and always ready to help with whatever questions we had which made our trip and our arrival here so wonderful! Thank you Magdalena! To the owners, Karl and Betsy: May I tell you that your beautiful cabin is so wonderfully well-equipped, stocked, and clean that I really did not even have to make a run to the grocery store for items like paper products, or plastic storage bags! Even a crock pot and every utensil/cooking item needed for those meals we cooked here - spices, even the condiments! Another excellent thing we enjoyed was how comfortable the beds and all the furnishings were. All of my family suffers terribly from dust mite allergies and so we are usually not very comfortable in rental homes because they do not clean well for dust in furnishings, bedding, etc. We had no such problems here, so we know you must do a great job of "allergy-proofing" your bedding and keeping dust to a minimum - we are so appreciative as this is very rare! I hope it can continue to be maintained this way because we hope to return annually! We spent a good majority of our time in Yellowstone so we did not see much wildlife around the cabin, but enjoyed the beautiful location! Your deck is awesome! Great work! I can tell you stay here yourself because your own special touches make all the difference! We have stayed in many vacation homes in Oregon on the coast and I can tell you from experience that yours has been the most comfortable and wonderful to stay in because of the care you have taken to provide more than 'just the basics' and your continued interest in 'keeping it fresh' and clean. Thank you for providing this wonderful home! Sincerely, The Laffertys and Dugans
September 8-13, 2007 This was the perfect spot for our "extended family" reunion (CA to PA). We are fortunate to enjoy your well-built and nicely appointed cabin-in-the-woods-near-the-lake! We had wonderful family time around the dining table and enjoyed having everything we needed in the kitchen. So thank you for the opportunity to spend this week here. Rob Stewart Outstanding job. Dick and Peggy from PA Furnishings were perfect and demonstrated a sincere desire provide a home away from home for others. We saw deer every day. The cabin provided a perfect ending to each wonderful day at Yellowstone Park. It is obvious that you have a love for sharing the beauty of the area with others. Thank you so much! Jim and Mary Stewart, Harborcreek, PA
What a gracious up/scale home away from home...Everything far exceeded any expectations that we might have had! The amenities were "over the top"! We had expected to leave the cabin relaxed and rested, but there were way too many fun things to do during our stay. Took 2 Yellowstone tours as well as spending time in West Yellowstone shopping and taking in the local sights. Be sure to see Earthquake Lake on the loop coming back to Island Park. Highly recommend going to see Meadow Vue Ranch down the road from the cabin in the summer. Thoroughly enjoyed their "Steer cutting" competition over Labor Day weekend...They serve a great bar-b-que! We also enjoyed a couple of dinners at the Island Park Resort. It's a REAL PLACE FROM THE PAST! Had a great breakfast at a West Yellowstone local hangout called "The Red Pancake House" or something really close to that...All in all, a fabulous week...Thanks so much! Diane & Sandy from California and our friend Flo from New York!!
8-13-07 We had a great time up here for Darsie's 40th birthday! It was great to be reunited with friends and meet some new ones in such a beautiful place! The scenery, the friends ... everything was so nice. I'm just bummed that I saw no bears! Thank you for sharing this with us! Darsie's crew
July 28 - August 4, 2007 Thank you for the use of Mountain Lake Cabin. It really is a great cabin in a beautiful location. This cabin really did feel like our home for a week. Thank you for furnishing, appointing and stocking it so well. Our favorite part of being here was the cool evenings out on the deck and the wildlife. We saw everything you could imagine, including a mule deer right in the back yard. Thanks again - we had a great time! The Masons, Mesa, AZ
14-21 July, 2007 This beautiful house was a pleasure to return to after long days spent exploring Yellowstone. One evening on the 5 mile stretch of Red Rock Road we saw a male moose beside the road! After an afternoon fishing on Yellowstone Lake we returned here to grill the two lake trout caught (one 4.8 lbs!) and ate on the deck watching the sunset through the trees. Without question though, our absolute favorite experience at the cabin was waking up two different mornings to the sight of a fairly large black bear foraging for food behind the house. At one point he got to within 25 ft of the back door - incredible!! Thanks for a very nice vacation!
July 8-13, 2007 What a beautiful cabin in our favorite place - Island Park! We've been so impressed with how well stocked this place is - you've certainly thought of everything. We hope to make Mountain Lake Cabin a yearly family tradition. The only thing missing was a hot tub - but we're not complaining too loudly. The views are so peaceful and beautiful. Thank you! Thank you! for letting us stay in this wonderful place. The Tracy/Pay family, West Point, UT
July 1-8, 2007 We had a great time exploring all of the surrounding areas and it was really nice to have such a beautiful, peaceful home to come back to each evening. Took a trail ride at Diamond P Ranch and met some really nice people, visited Harriman State Park, Jackson, WY, Virginia City and Nevada City, MT and of course spent time in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons! One afternoon we startled a young mule deer that was hiding in the shade under the front deck. Thanks for letting us experience this piece of paradise and providing us with information on how to make the most of our time!
6/23/07 We thoroughly enjoyed the house and the gorgeous surroundings. For a bunch of flatlanders these mountains are pretty breathtaking. In addition to the usual park activity we also enjoyed Big Spring, Mesa Falls and the trail ride. It was a perfect environment for our joint holiday. We were particularly grateful for how well the kitchen was stocked, and the house was a great experience. It was nice to find this lovely home online.
June 7, 2007 From Valrico, Florida - Eric and Nancy, Jacob and Elizabeth, and baby Annaleis What a great vacation we've had in this clean, comfortable, and well-equipped home away from home! We especially enjoyed keeping the bird feeder full and watching the varied birds and squirrels eat the seed. The view of the mountain through the aspen and pine trees was captivating. It could not have been better. Hey - we like it here!
