Yosemite's west entrance, on Hwy. 140, is only 36 miles away. This scenic highway from Mariposa, running through the Merced River gorge, is the shortest route to the loop road in Yosemite Valley (only 6 miles from the west entrance) when compared to the routes from the other major gateway towns such as Oakhurst and Groveland. After 18 miles you"ll see the Merced River Recreation Area at Briceburg. It has sandy beaches where you can have a family picnic, or stop to dip into the river on the way back from the Yosemite Park to cool off on a hot summer day. This area is also great for fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing.
For the more adventurous among you, rent a kayak or take a white water rafting trip with one of the commercial rafting companies that provide trips down portions of the Merced River.
Guests can also take Hwy 49 to Hwy 41 to Yosemite's south entrance. This is approx. a 45 mile drive from the vacation home. Traveling in that direction you can visit Bass Lake with its water sports, beaches and restaurants. The historic Sugar Pine Railroad takes guests on a 4-mile adventure through a scenic fir and pine forest.
There are plenty of other interesting and fun things to see and do around the charming town of Mariposa, such as visiting the local museums that reveal the rich history of the pioneer gold-rush days of the late 1800s. Or spend an afternoon in the Mariposa County Park, where you'll also find tennis courts, skateboard ramps, picnic tables, and a playground. Sequoia National Park and King's Canyon National Park are even close enough for a day-trip.
SPRING is the best time to see waterfalls at their peak in Yosemite Park. The snow remaining in the highest elevations melts and flows into streams that feed the waterfalls. Other than an occasional rain, you'll find very pleasant weather and smaller crowds for hiking. Some higher elevation hikes may be closed until late spring. This is a great time to raft the Wild and Scenic Merced River, or take amazing wildflower hikes in the Merced River Canyon or Hite's Cove, outside the park (March-May). Family fun at the Butterfly Festival in Mariposa (first weekend in May) or try to win the $10,000 prize at the Annual Fishing Derby at Bass Lake (first weekend in May).
SUMMER offers months of dry, warm, sunny weather. All hiking trails are open throughout the park. The high elevation roads to Glacier Point and Tioga Pass are open. This is a good time for horseback riding, morning hiking, bicycling, and even Merced River swimming in Yosemite and Briceberg Canyon. Bass Lake is another great place for swimming, boating and hiking. (Boat rentals available). The Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad is a fun family experience. Ride in open railroad cars, pulled along historic tracks through a beautiful forest, by a steam locomotive. Enjoy musical events on weekend evenings in the Art Park in Mariposa.
AUTUMN is a wonderful time to hike in Yosemite! The gorgeous fall colors last for months. Cooler but comfortable weather and smaller crowds make this time of year special and invigorating! Some waterfalls have diminished flows, but Vernal and Nevada Falls are still spectacular! Plenty of sunshine despite an occasional rain. Enjoy the beautiful greening foothills at one of the local ziplines. Family fun at the 4-day County Fair at the Mariposa Co. Fair Grounds over Labor Day weekend. Amazing natural wonders at the CA State Mining and Mineral Museum.
WINTER When snow begins to fall in Yosemite ice-skating, downhill skiing, and snowshoeing (especially in the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoias) are special treats. (Rentals available.) The mountains glisten in the sun. Hiking paths in Yosemite Valley are plowed and often free of snow. Make a snowman or go sledding. Horse-drawn sleigh rides or hayrides available at Christmas just outside the park. You’ll enjoy the brisk but varying weather if you dress in layers. Days are often clear, even in winter. In Mariposa, at 2,000 ft. elevation, snow is infrequent and melts, but if you want snow you can always find it at some elevation in Yosemite Park. Bring tire chains or 4WD, but chains aren't often needed unless driving higher than Yosemite Valley.
If you are looking for an adventurous vacation in a beautiful natural area, with gorgeous mountain views and easy access to Yosemite Park, you are sure to enjoy your stay at Deer Ridge Vacation Home!

This house is not typical. It’s a home. Comfortable and well appointed. Plenty of all the things you need and can’t pack. Wild deer families, wild turkeys, sunsets and sunrises. We loved being there
Owner Response
We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay - again! You are welcome back any time!
Outstanding property for a large group! Very comfortable, lots of room to spread out. Hot tub was a great bonus, and Bruce gave me a personal training session on hot tub use! A bit of a drive to get to Yosemite (1 hour) but we knew that when we booked, so no complaint. Great views all around the home, and excellent proximity to Mariposa.
Owner Response
Thank you for your wonderful review, Craig! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. You are right, the views are great in all directions. You are welcome back any time!
The photos were amazing, but actually seeing the home surpassed all of our expectations. Bruce and Magdalena were friendly and attentive. It was nice to know that they weren't too far away. The home was fully stocked with everything we could would ever need. Thank you for thinking of everything so we didn't have to and could relax and enjoy the area. Also, the people of Mariposa was so friendly and refreshing. Highly recommend this property and town.
Owner Response
Thank you for your kind words! We enjoyed having you stay at our vacation home and are so glad that you enjoyed not only the house and property, but also the historic town of Mariposa. You are welcome back any time!
A great house in a remote location situated in the hills just outside of Mariposa. If you're lucky the wildlife will pay a visit too. Bruce and Magdalena take pride in their home and it shows. From the simple labeling of switches to a plentiful supply of towels and linens... the house has everything you need and spacious too. We managed to fit four families consisting of 7 adults and 5 children very comfortably. And on those rainy days there's plenty of board games to keep you going. Only an hours drive out from the Arch Rock entrance to Yosemite National Park with White Water rafting on the way too. Great market in Mariposa for all your catering needs. This house was perfect and we can't wait to come back... Thanks for having us Bruce and Magdalena!
We really enjoyed our stay in this home. It had beautiful views and the property was great. The home was very comfortable and had many items already there. We would stay here again and highly recommend it to others. We had a group of 7 but it would’ve been comfortable with more.
What a perfect set-up for large families (we were 10 adults and there was room for children if we'd brought any along!). Gorgeous views from every expansive porch. Only a few of us were up early enough to enjoy sunrise over the mountains with our coffee! Everyone lingered on the back porch for hours in the evening, calmed by the burbling fountain in the yard. Muscles aching from ambitious days in Yosemite were soothed in the pristine hot tub nearby. The living room would have been our spot had the weather not been so perfect -- I'd like to return when it was cool enough to light the fire; the space is so comfortable and fits a crowd. EVERYTHING about the kitchen was amazing and it is so spacious. Super clean, completely appointed with anything you could imagine needing. We managed 14 around the dining table one evening!! So you see we were cooking for a crowd and it was easy to do it with plenty of room for several to work, great appliances and a grill outside. We slept well in very comfortable beds. Bedding and towels are all excellent quality and abundant. Hosts have thought of everything -- there's a library of guidebooks and trail maps (as well as general reading if you have time by that hearth -- or energy enough to stay awake to read after a day of exploring the surrounding area!). They have detailed information about appliances, etc., should you need it. The wifi information is right there. This was SUCH a beautiful and relaxing place to enjoy our family gathering. The nearby town of Mariposa has a large grocery store and many small shops to have some fun in if you somehow tire of the park! I'm sure I'm missing many details that made our stay so easy. Thank you, Bruce and Magdalena for sharing this beautiful property with others!
Our family stayed at Bruce and Magdalena's beautiful Mariposa home to celebrate a special occasion. The house was immaculate, well taken care of, and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable home away from home, including small details like ice chests to use for our day trips to Yosemite! It was so nice to be able to come back from a day of hiking/sightseeing and relax. The house sits on a large property outside of town and the stars were amazing at night! We sat outside on the deck and enjoyed the view (and the hot tub) and just plain relaxed. The best! The town of Mariposa is such a nice "small town" with cute restaurants and shops. It's about an hour outside of the park, but the drive there is pretty and we didn't mind it. Thanks Bruce and Magdalena for your hospitality and for letting us stay at your gorgeous property. We hope to be back again some day!!
Owner Response
Thank you, Karen! It was great to meet your family during the hot tub orientation. I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay! Regarding the drive to Yosemite from this house: This home is a 36 mile drive from the west entrance of Yosemite Park. (The west entrance is only 7 miles from all of the amazing beauty of the Yosemite Valley loop road.)The amount of time it takes to drive to the west entrance is dependent on many factors: Time of day (fastest in early morning), time of year (summer is the season with the most traffic), other delays that can occur during a particular drive. It can take as little as 50 minutes to make this drive, which follows along the beautiful, wild and scenic Merced River Canyon.
We stayed in the home for 3 nights with our adult children (ages 22-30) for vacation in July. It was a party of 8 adults. The setting is very private and lots of room for cars to park outside. Loved the covered front & back porches. The house was very clean and roomy with all the dishes and cooking supplies, spices etc. you might want. We used the nice grill every night and loved eating on the beautiful large back deck. The hot tub was a nice touch at night even though the temps were extremely warm during our stay. The 3 private bedrooms were spacious and laid out nicely for the 3 couples. However we had 2 adults that used the sleeper sofa in the den and sleeper living room sofa which was not too comfortable. Probably would be fine for children, but not comfortable sleeping for adults. We were not at the house too much, since we spent most of the day in Yosemite (leaving as early as 6 am to beat crowds) and coming home later. Sadly our stay was during the Ferguson Fire going on outside of Yosemite. Bruce was great on the day we arrived letting us know about the fire and updates on road closures & best access in the park. He was also very helpful answering our questions of what sights to see since we only had 2 days to do it. We heard a couple days after we left this house that Yosemite was actually closed due to the smoke and other problems the fire caused. We feel so lucky to have seen what we did of beautiful Yosemite even though we had to alter some plans. The only items that would have helped since the owner lives at the end of the lane near this property is if the A/C was already set for cooling the house before we arrived. It took 24 hours to get the house to a comfortable level and the first night it made it hard to sleep. We also were there during a hot spell temperature wise. The refrigerator was also set too low, so all the meat & drinks we stocked in our refrigerator upon arrival took until the next day to get cold. It also did not make ice because it was set too low, so we reported the ice maker was broken & it was not. Other than those minors, everything was fabulous and a lovely home that we would recommend. The owners were very prompt with answering questions quickly in the month before our arrival. The town of Mariposa was very cute & quaint and had a grocery store & we enjoyed one night out for dinner in the town.
Owner Response
I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay, despite the wildfire that started the night before your arrival, about 12 miles away. We have taken note of your comments on the comfortability of the 2 sleeper couches and have ordered mattress toppers for them! Thanks. This home has a dependable and robust A/C system. The problem was, I had made the house unavailable for several days prior to your arrival for outdoor maintenance (completing the painting and new sun-fabric stretching on the refurbished back deck pergola). Since nobody was in the house for those several days I had the house A/C set for 80 degrees. I should have realized that resetting it for 70 degrees just hours before your arrival would not give it sufficient time. Sorry for that. If you brought it to my attention I would have suggested opening the screened windows upstairs on your first night, letting in the cool night air. The A/C downstairs cools quickly in this open concept house, the upstairs takes longer since heat rises. Regarding the fridge: It works very well, makes ice well, and we always have it set for the correct temperature when people arrive. Tips: When arriving at a vacation rental with a large load of food you've just bought, it's smart to only put the items into the fridge that need immediate refrigeration. For instance, don't put all of the drinks that you will use for the entire stay in at once, just the amount you want cold the first day. The fewer room temperature items you put in all at once, the better. Also, keep in mind minimizing the amount of time the refrigerator door is open until everything has arrived at optimal coldness. (With 8 people, the fridge can be open quite often.) Thirdly, be sure not to block the vent between the side-by-side freezer compartment and the refrigerator compartment. Some people block that with something like a case of beer, cutting off the proper flow between compartments. If you had let me know of your concerns I would have shared these tips with you. It was nice meeting you and your family. Glad that you had a good time in Yosemite!
Thank you for your hospitality. Your home is absolutely gorgeous. Such a great view. Loved sitting out drinking coffee in the morning admiring the view. We all enjoyed the stay and hope to come back soon! Thanks!
A beautiful and charming house in Mariposa and great place to stay if visiting Yosemite Valley. It was a hot week when we visited and it was nice to come back to the house’s AC after a day of hiking. Lots of amenities in the house, plenty of towels (including several set aside specially for the jacuzzi), and a well stocked kitchen for cooking. The house was so nice that our kids (3 and 8) never wanted to leave. It’s about 90 min from the house to the heart of Yosemite Valley but the drive is so beautiful, I didn’t mind it each day. As others have said, the last mile or so to the house is gravel and your car will get dirty. Also the driveway is somewhat steep and uneven; not a problem for a truck or SUV but a small car could have trouble. Great communication and recommendations from the owners plus the house has a bookshelf with guidebooks if you need help finding things to do. Overall a great place to stay!!
This is a great house but there a few things that need to be taken care of. The house its self is in great condition and well set up. The owners have done well as to providing for your stay. But the pull out bed in the family room is not fit for anyone to sleep on and needs to be taken care of. A few or the kitchen utensils need replacing. The out side grounds need attention although I'm sure it is a lot to take care of. There is approximately one mile of dirt/gravel road that one has to cover to get to the house that is not mentioned. And the actual driveway from the road to the house is badly in need of re leveling. It is approximately one hour thirty minute drive in actual dive time to Yosemite Valley Center. The small town of Meriposa is great with a nice store, Pioneer Market, and plenty of places to eat. The people there are very friendly and we enjoyed our visit. The owners live on the property but are respectful of your privacy. They are also quick to take care of any problems you may encounter. We would highly recommend your staying in this home.
This is a fabulous place to spend a family vacation. The place is spotless and very well equipment with everything you need to feel like you are home. Lots of room to spread out and relax. The owners are extremely helpful and very easy to work with. We had a wonderful time hiking and making family memories. Yosemite National Park is a little over an hour away. Get there early as parking fills up quickly. Thank you Bruce and Magdalena for sharing this beautiful home. It was everything and more than we expected. Definitely would love to come and would definitely recommend to anyone interested in renting your home.
My family was in Mariposa for a wedding so we rented this wonderful property. We had 3 households staying in this house (6 people) and it was perfect. Our favorite part was how peaceful it was. We spent a lot of time out on the back patio just enjoying the sound of the fountain and looking out at the view. Magdalena and Bruce are wonderful accommodating hosts. I highly recommend this house for your next stay in the Mariposa area.
The house was wonderful. We meet from Michigan and the state of Washington to celebrate our 40 anniversary. The house had everything thing we needed, including a new grill that we used every night.. The grandchildren thought the outside was a great place to play hide and seek. We found it to be very relaxing after a trip to Yosemite. The bedrooms were great for the 9 of us. Gene and Lois and family
This location was central to everything we wanted to do in the park and we were able to go to both the west and south entrance within about an hour or less. The home was very beautiful and we loved the fact it was nestled atop a hill affording views in any direction all questions were answered via the notes posted throughout the house which made everything a breeze to get started once we were there and upon checkout we very much look forward to booking our next trip at your house in the future.
Really nice house, located close to town which was convenient when we needed to run to get grocery, or to put gas on our way up to Yosemite. If your coming out here in the winter, make sure to have chains with you, they are more pricey out here.
Very clean and good cared for house. We enjoyed the beautiful view and the quiet environment. The two four legged visitors were adorable and little messages all over the house were very helpful and thoughtful.
This home is perfectly situated atop a hill and affords 360 degree views. It provides the guests much needed privacy and quiet. The starry sky from the back deck and jacuzzi is incomparable. Our hosts Bruce and Magdalena were phenomenal. Every need has been thoughtfully anticipated. Every detail attended to by the hosts. The kitchen was the best stocked one out of our many travels. Bruce provided us with a wealth of hiking and swimming suggestions and all were "on point". Age range in our group was from 20 to 70 and all of us had a fantastic time. Just a short 5 minute drive into historical Mariposa. 45 - 50 minute very scenic drive to Yosemite West entrance at El Portal. We were very sad to leave our "home away from home" after 7 days in heaven on earth. We hope we are lucky enough to return sometime soon.
My husband and I along with our two adult children had a great time on our vacation to Yosemite. The home had a lot of room and was very clean and well maintained. We received some great information from Bruce while we were there regarding where to go hiking in Yosemite. The town of Mariposa was very nice as well. It was great to come home after a long day of hiking and sightseeing to a nice relaxing setting away from all of the crowds. We highly recommend this property and look forward to visiting again soon.
Our family really enjoyed our stay in your beautiful home. The setting is quiet and peaceful. Relaxing on the back deck is a great way to end a day of busy sight-seeing. We enjoyed watching a variety of birds take a bath in the rock fountain. We would recommend this vacation home to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat from a day of busy activities.
We really enjoyed our stay in your vacation home. It was very spacious and had everything we needed. We did a lot of hiking at Yosemite and really enjoyed the hot tub when we got back each day. Would definitely recommend your place to others. Thanks for allowing us to stay.
"Our family had a great time. The house is wonderful and the views are great! Enjoyed the hot tub, my husband claims it is the best tub he has ever been in (and he loves hot tubs!) We stay in many rental vacation homes and I enjoyed having the extras that most homes do not supply."
Man oh man, this house is awesome. It's nestled in the hills and private. It's got everything you could want in a kitchen and the fireplace and hot tub make for an amazing combo. There's also a ton of beds for everyone. The layout is great and we had such an amazing stay. A great base for Yosemite and Bruce and Magdalena are super super helpful. Bruce gives a wicked tour of the property and he knows all the great stuff in the park. Thanks again - we will stay again!
Owner Response
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. You were great guests and you are welcome back any time! Magdalena and Bruce
We loved our stay at this home. It was beautiful and impeccably clean inside and out. Lots of birds in the yard. The view is absolutely fantastic night and day, especially from the hot tub. I recommend getting up for the sunrise. The house is huge and there is plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The kitchen is supplied with everything you may need, so cooking in was not a problem. It was a luxury to have TV and WiFi. My only complaint would be that it didn't feel as private as I would have liked. It seems a bit tedious to require in-person instruction on hot tub use. I've never had that before at any of the other homes I've rented with a hot tub. I understand concerns about damage to an expensive piece of equipment but the instructions inside would have been just fine. Going in and out of the locked gate at the end of the driveway was cumbersome. Also the "rules" and "instructions" pasted on the walls and all over the house was overkill and created a bit of anxiety. I was very worried that I would accidentally do something that the owner did not like and not receive my deposit back. Luckily I did receive it back in full. Other than those few things we really did enjoy our stay here and would come back.
Owner Response
Thank you for your very positive comments about our Deer Ridge Vacation Home. We have owned and managed vacation rentals since 2001, so we have experienced many varied groups of renters. Every group is different. Some are extremely respectful of the home, careful, intelligent and savvy about how things work. On the other extreme there are groups who are careless, inexperienced, and lacking in knowledge about how things work, especially in the USA. Most groups are somewhere in the middle of those extremes. Renters are from many different countries and are sometimes used to very different appliances where they come from. By giving a 10 minute hot tub orientation I am able to meet one or more people, welcome them, and make sure that that particular group knows how to operate the hot tub in a safe and sanitary way, with attention to the music feature and other unique features. I am also able to answer any other questions they may have and even give some pointers about things to see and do in Yosemite and around the region, if desired. After that, unless called upon, we have no further interaction with the renters. Renters actually have plenty of privacy. It's a very large quiet and beautiful 5.6 acre property with a lot of trees and bushes, and renters are are not in the view of any of the few neighbors. Any information we have decided to post here or there is for people who may need and appreciate help, for instance tips for the successful use of the wood-burning fireplace or the jetted whirlpool tub in the master bathroom. Again, the info is there for the people who need and appreciate it because they aren't familiar. And yes, it also avoids damage to expensive equipment. For instance, people need to know not to activate the jets in the bath tub until the tub has filled high enough to be above all of the jets. (This is simply common sense for some, but others need to be able to rely on clear concise instructions.) Regarding the driveway gate: It only needs to be locked last thing at night or whenever the entire group of renters leaves the property. It can remain wide open all day if only a portion of the group is coming and going, to the store, etc. This is a safe rural area, but having a locked gate when renters are away or asleep is simply common sense, for the protection of your belongings and peace of mind. The renter's house key has a gate key attached, so opening the padlock is quick and easy. Also, the gate is light and swings easily.
If you are wanting to relax surrounded by beauty and quiet, then this property is for you. The owners are friendly and helpful, and their home is comfortable and roomy. We felt at home there! My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time....the only thing we wished was that we had stayed longer!
So very grateful we had the opportunity to stay here. First morning , we saw 3 Deer on our way out of the driveway! We are city folk so that's unheard of in our town!! The home is far enough away that you can enjoy the view, but not so far that you cant get in a quick grocery run. I would say if you are visiting Yosemite, consider this set-up, because there really is not that much available as far as food and other things go and the town of Mariposa has anything you could think of in case you forget to pack something. We were even able to rent snow tires for a day trip to Badger Pass. Bruce and Magdalena were very conscientious and made sure we had everything we needed. Hopefully we can visit one summer and would stay here again.

Thank you for your nice review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Reviews are very helpful to prospective renters when they are trying to make their lodging choice. You are welcome back any time - maybe during the summer another year. However, fall is also a good time to visit due to cooler temps, and the fall colors in Yosemite Park tare beautiful and tend to last a long time. Thanks again!
Excellent rental, all that was promise plus more. Beautiful home large enough for my family of 11. Home is approx 1 hr from Yosemite Valley (about 30 min to the western entrance) easy drive anytime though because the NPS keeps the roads plowed and salted. You can also enter the south entrance to Yosemite at Wawona which we did. The south side of Yosemite is less traveled but worth the visit and you can drive to the Yosemite Valley also (go for it, it is a great drive!) Wifi is great, the view out the front door with its wraparound porch is beautiful. The home is approx 8 minutes from history rich Mariposa CA and I recommend visiting both the Mariposa City Museum and the CA State Gem Museum for a nominal fee both are very much worth a visit. Mariposa has a full service grocery store, Rite Aid, and pretty much every kind of shop you would find in a small town. St Joseph's Catholic Church is a neat place to visit with a free self directed cemetary tour. Everything worked just great with the home! Bruce and Magdalena are great people to rent from, thanks again!!!!
I highly recommend staying at this house. You cannot beat the comfort and spaciousness of this house to any hotel nearby. It does live up to it's description. We were very pleased to find the house meticulously maintained and very comfortable.
In addition to all the things mentioned in the descriptions, the house is well stocked with so many extra things, eg kitchen & dining equipments, extra towels & pillows & blankets, lots of books & games & dvds, firewoods, & even cooking ingredients. The owners provide detail & helpful instructions for everything, which allowed us to have a very enjoyable stay.
This house was great and really had everything we could have possibly needed. The hosts were so very generous and really stock the house with everything. It was the perfect place for our Thanksgiving gathering for our family of 8. The views and seclusion were also very nice. We loved our stay and would highly recommend this house. Hopefully we'll be back again!
This property is beautiful, clean, and has a great view but the reason for 3 stars is due to privacy. I received an email with instructions to the property (details, info, etc) after I had paid and signed the rental agreement, so this was when I learned that the owners lived on the same property. According to those details, their house is 'over the hill' and it states that this property is still very private. When we showed up, we learned that their house is ON THE SAME LOT, within the same gate, and a 2 minute walk from this house. Bruce, the owner, was cleaning out the jacuzzi when we got there (our fault, we got there 30 mins early) so he went ahead and gave us instructions on how to use the jacuzzi. He also told us to make sure we lock the front door when we leave and to make sure everything is locked. So we explored the home and went into town for a few hours. About 10 minutes after we got back, we heard the phone ring (we felt like we were being watched since he clearly saw us pull up) and it was Bruce. He explained to me that he had to come back to the home because one of their other properties needed some tool that our property had. He went on to say that he noticed one of the sliding doors wasn't locked, so he went around checking all of the other sliding doors and there were a total of '5' doors that weren't locked. He also said he hoped this would be the last time he'd have to talk to us. When he had told us to make sure we locked the front door and to make sure everything was locked, we did not anticipate he would come around pulling on every door and checking up on us (and by us I mean it was only my husband and I). We also didn't think twice about locking every single door since we genuinely thought we'd be fine as long as we locked the front door. Either way, I have stayed in many rental homes and have never felt so intruded and uncomfortable. Every time we left the home, I wondered if he would come around and check on us. Also keep in mind he has notes written around the entire home (some helpful ones, such as what lights do what, and others I found pointless and odd such as 'you'll pay for this if this happens'). If you're looking to relax, get away, and be private with a spouse (or friends) this is not the place for you.
Owner Response
Arlyne, Thank you for accurately describing the beauty of our vacation home and surroundings. I was very surprised to read your negative comments about privacy because we've never had a comment like that. I think that your sense of a lack of privacy was unfortunately in your own perception and not an actual fact. I thought we had a pleasant conversation about the hot tub operation when you arrived a half hour early. By the way , the hot tub was crystal clear, fully clean and chemically balanced at that time. I was waiting to give the water one last test. I don't remember asking you to lock any doors. I assume that people will treat our home as if it were their own, and lock all the doors when they depart. (I do have one note near the thermostat asking people to lock all doors each time they depart.) Certainly you must realize that locking 2 out of 5 exterior doors does not make a home secure. Since I did have the very unusual need to come over and retrieve a shower head from a maintenance cabinet to meet the immediate need of another vacation rental we manage (and stores were closed at that hour) I noticed that the laundry door was unlocked. Then I could see another nearby door that was unlocked, so I decided to go around and check them all. My phone call was not a chastisement, but a reminder. Many people have only one or two doors to lock at their own homes. This home has 5 exterior doors. Some people aren't used to that. It was no big deal, since this is a quiet and safe rural area, but we do want our doors locked when no one is there. It keeps renter's belongings safe, as well as the house. It's just a good policy. To be clear, this vacation rental is at the top of a hill on a 5.6 acre property. It is at one edge of the property and our own home is at the other opposite end. There is a small hill between the 2 homes. We have no view of the rental's back deck or hot tub. We can see the side and parking area, but only if we step out on our front deck. We have no windows toward the rental. We have our own driveway, our own gate, and a separate address. I don't go over to check on anything except to maintain the clarity of the hot tub mid-way during long bookings, after getting permission to come over, usually while renters are gone. (Not needed during your booking.) People have plenty of privacy and most are happy we're close enough to be responsive to any needs that could arise.
We had a girls weekend in Yosemite and LOVED the home, setting and location to town. The house is super spacious, the hot tub is totally the ticket after a long drive or a long hike in the Park. Magdalena and Bruce are great and easy to work with! We all wished we had just one more day to enjoy the scenery. It was tranquil and beautiful!
October 1-5, 2016 Thank Bruce and Magdalena for letting us stay at your lovely house. booking is simple and got replying quickly. it is beautiful house with everything provided to make you feel at home. We loved sitting on the porch during days and really enjoyed the beautiful and relaxing back yard, watching sky at night and seeing the stars. We had a wonderful time in Yosemite Park and Mariposa town. Thank you for your detailed instructions and directions. Highly recommend the property and the location, rural yet close to town. LI, Sun, Wang families
Booking was simple and clear, we got all the instructions needed for our late evening arrival. The accommodations for my family of 9 was splendid, everybody got good rest for our next day trip to Yosemite Park. There are plenty of books and guides for the park which were very helpful of our day trip. When we came back from the park, relaxing in the Jacuzzi outside was nice and the kids had a great time with the some of the board games from the house. Too bad we did not have more time to enjoy this beautiful place. Definitely recommended for families with kids. Thank you !
Stayed here for 3 nights on quick trip to see Yosemite as part of longer California road trip with my wife and 3 children (ages from 24 to 17).. The property is close enough to Mariposa to be an easy drive yet nestles on a little ridge near, but not too near, the owners and other properties. We loved the location, fantastic views on 3 sides of the property with wrap around porch. House is very well equipped and great air con which was a welcome escape during the hot Yosemite summer days. During our stay we saw a wide variety of wild life in the garden.... rabbits, all sorts of birds, tiny frogs, lizards, bats and my wife's highlight two baby deer and mum snacking on the shrubs one morning. Also found a couple of big cat paw prints, kinda pleased we did not see the cat. On our last night we also saw some shooting stars which was a first. In the local area we tried several restaurants including the Country Inn Diner and 1850, all good value. Spent an afternoon at Yosemite Zip Wires, highly recommended, and did a full day tour of Yosemite and Glacier Point with local tour company, also recommended as our guide showed us all sorts of places we would not have known about. Now we have had the Yosemite taster I am sure we will come back again and I would absolutely stay at this property.
Owner Response
We are glad you enjoyed your stay! Regarding the cat paw prints, we have never seen a cougar here nor did the previous owner. It may be that you saw the paw print of our dog, who has big paws.
Beautiful house with all the amenities needed to make you feel at home. Loved sitting on the porch in the morning drinking coffee watching the deer eat plums on the trees. At night the stars were as bright as the moon. Highly recommend the property and the location, rural yet close to town.
Our family wants to thank you for an amazing vacation home that was filled with memories. After spending our days whitewater rafting, hiking or exploring it was like coming home where we could relax and unwind from our adventures. We so appreciated the cleanliness and clearly labeled instructions that eliminated any guess work on our part! Thank you for the opportunity to stay in this little piece of paradise!
Thanks for giving us a nice relaxing place to return to after long days hiking in Yosemite! We really enjoyed all the different birds that came to the fountain to drink and take baths! We were treated to seeing a hawk fly through the back porch while we were sitting out there!
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, Thank you, thank you, thank you! You’ve such an amazing place out here. All of us had a wonderful time together. We cut short our trip to Glacier Point just to enjoy this beautiful home. The deer, birds and waterfall added an extra touch of warmth and love for nature. Thanks again for such a beautiful place. Hope to come back some time again.
The most beautiful and amazing place. Not just the amazing view on the outside, but the house is so welcoming and warm that you wouldn’t want to go out anywhere. The hot tub is my favorite - it has the lovely lights and the music feature that make you enjoy every bit of the time. Above all you guys were always there to help us and make our stay a wonderful one! Best Valentine’s day yet!! We will certainly recommend this to our friends and family and will definitely visit again sometime. Thanks, Varun K., California
Dear Bruce and Magdalena Beall, We had a great time in your vacation home. It’s beautiful with all required facilities. We enjoyed the pleasant nature being in the hot tub. It’s a good place to visit with friends and family to have lots of fun and entertainment. Hi, it’s really good here :-) We are all friends, and enjoyed it a lot here. Thank you for the wonderful house.
Dear Magdalena and Bruce, We were here for 10 days to enjoy Christmas at your lovely place. It is not an easy task to spend Christmas somewhere else with children. Yet you were able to bring a "home" feeling to all of us. Bruce kindly put up a Christmas tree. Garlands decorated the upper part of the home. Your thoughtful touches were deeply appreciated by our children and grownups. The house was meticulously cleaned, it had everything we needed. Moreover, you checked on our needs, if any, and gently educated us on whatever we might need later. Bruce even managed to spend time with our kids, even though many errands waited to be completed. Children sense positive energy faster and love faster than some grownups. Our children were drawn to your positive energy and calm personalities. It was a pleasure to get to know you and have fun in this "five star" zen house. Thank you for all your care.
A lovely time at a lovely home! The cat (a stray) we made friends with here was a great addition to a great time! Thank you for an amazing experience. Hope we come back again soon. A.J., CA We had a wonderful time in a beautiful home. You thought of everything. Can’t wait to visit your vacation home in Yellowstone. Will tell all of our friends about this “find.” Thank You! J.and P., Hawaii More beautiful than we could have imagined. I've stayed at many lovely vacation homes and this one is tops. Absolutely every detail is perfect. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed. The gourmet kitchen is roomy and stocked with every appliance and even some staples. We appreciated not having to buy olive oil, sugar, herbs and spices, etc. The beds are comfortable and linens are top-notch. We especially loved sitting on the porch and watching the hummingbirds in the little fountain, looking at the view. Fully recommend booking here even if not visiting Yosemite, it's worth it on its own. Thank you! S.A., CA
We had a very enjoyable time at Deer Ridge, it is indeed a beautiful house in a lovely location. We found the kitchen very well stocked with good cookware and had no trouble preparing several gourmet meals. We are very happy to have discovered your beautiful property and hope to make it our base for regular visits to the area.
Thank you so much for sharing your house with us. We loved being here and my kids and grandkids did not want to leave. We enjoyed the wildlife and even got a visit from a tarantula. Very special. You have the house set up very user friendly and all of the little notes and directions were appreciated. It was very peaceful and a totally enjoyable stay.
Bruce and Magdalena, This house is a little piece of heaven - thank you for sharing it with us. My absolute favorite time was early morning on the front porch with some coffee and that very special visitor - Peetie the cat (the neighbor’s cat). Other highlights - the bees “humming” with the sunrise, the hummingbirds showering on the back fountain, the daily visits from the deer. Above all, the peace of the place. Thank you again~
We only spent 2 days at this beautiful house, we really enjoyed our stay, the house is well taking care and clean, enjoyed our coffee every morning in the back deck with our friendly visitors, that includes all kind of beautiful birds playing at the water fountain or the cat that also visited us everyday.. Congratulations Bruce and Magdalena job well done...
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, Thank you so much for letting us stay in the house. This is a fabulous house, and we’re so impressed by it. My parents came to visit us from China, and they told me that I had to express appreciation to you! This is the best house we’ve ever rented! Thanks again!
Your house was the ideal set-up for us. We spent all 3 days hiking in Yosemite and came back each night to total comfort. We didn't have a chance to take advantage of everything but you've provided for every detail. In the morning I had my coffee on the back deck, with hummingbirds, blue jays, deer and assorted other wildlife in the 5-acre back yard, and at night we sat on a bench in the front overlooking a huge open space and an enormous expanse of sky encrusted with stars, with the Milky Way looking as if it had just been spilled overhead -- it was like having our own planetarium. We will tell our friends and family about your house, so don't be surprised when you hear from a bunch of New Jerseyans and New Yorkers!
I had a great time. The Jacuzzi was wonderful. Every night we went outside to see the wonderful stars. Love, Ben (9 years old) We enjoyed our stay, your house is beautiful and we felt absolutely comfortable. We will definitely come back and rent from you again. We absolutely loved it! Thank you~
We have had Yosemite on our bucket list for 20 years and it’s everything we imagined! Thank you for offering your home to people like us - it was just the right size for my family of 5 and our friend’s family of 3! We all enjoyed the natural beauty and wildlife while relaxing on the decks. Acorn woodpeckers, humming birds, deer, and of course Peetie and Cedar were welcome additions! (neighboring cat and dog) We hope to see Yellowstone next so we’ll look up your other house!
July 24-27, 2015 My family and I were very pleased with your home - beautiful. You folks thought of all necessary things that renters may need during their stay. We all truly loved our stay. The peace and quiet that we all had, we appreciate. And your home is wonderful. We created great memories and your home was part of our memories. We also loved that fact that the house is close to the town and Pioneer market. If given an opportunity, we'll definitely return back. Salamat sa inyo! (Filipino for “Thank you all) The Ramos Family, Bay Area, CA
The grandchildren just don’t want to leave at all and the four adults, my two children and one spouse, plus myself (the grandma who celebrated her 70th birthday here) are wondering how the time flew by so quickly! Bravo to you both, Magdalena and Bruce, for your attention to detail in finishing the house; you didn’t miss a thing. We love to cook and drink wine with dinner - everything required was here, and of good quality. Your house was a delight to stay in and we will certainly recommend it on our blogs. Your proximity to Yosemite made it easy to take our young children (4 and 6) and they had so much fun taking the tour of Mariposa with Maya and Rico, panning for gold at the Museum and History Center. We finished off the week at the Mariposa Mining and Gemological Museum, which they loved. In Fishcamp the family took the Sugar Pine Railroad and enjoyed the views and informative talk. The Junior Ranger and other one-hour programs in the park were wonderful for them. We adults couldn’t get enough of quiet mornings and evenings on the patio/terrace watching wildlife and listening to all the birds attracted to the fountain. City life and city stress seemed very far away. The children’s favorite expression is “easy-peasy” and it describes very accurately how smooth and pleasant the booking and reservation process has been with you, all the result of your good organization and meticulous attention to detail, for which we are grateful. I can’t imagine celebrating a milestone birthday in more pleasant surroundings! Sincerely~ What a wonderful experience to celebrate Mom’s 70th birthday! Memories for a lifetime.
Loved the “comforts of home” at your house. Wildlife was enjoyable also. Made friends with the cat, who seemed to think this was her house! We had a great time! Hope we can come again some day.
Dear Mr. Bruce and Ms. Magdalena, Thank you for the wonderful stay at Deer Ridge Vacation House! Everyone loved the luxury of staying here. The view around the house was incredible, and the pictures itself were amazing. My sister and I enjoyed the large grassy area to play in. Ruth S. We had a great time at the house. The house is a vacation destination in and of itself. We have stayed at four other vacation rentals in Mariposa since 2012 and your property stands head and shoulders above the rest. A.T.
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, From the bottom of our hearts, thank you sincerely for the privilege of staying at the Deer Ridge House! From the picturesque scenery to the bed linens, our stay was incredible! Your home was the perfect place to come ‘home’ to after daily excursions to Yosemite. You’ve thought of everything - your hospitality is appreciated and we look forward to planning our next vacation! What a BEAUTIFUL home which will be lived again and again in our family’s memories! Abundant blessings!
Thank you very much, Bruce and Magdalena, for an amazing 3-night stay at your beautiful home. Everyone was at home here, every adult and kid :-) Everything to provide a comfortable stay was provided, especially the comfy beds, towels and kitchen stuff. The location is simply breathtaking. Thank you again and looking forward to our next visit here.

Thank you for the opportunity to rent your house. It helped our stay feel more like home. We also spent a great deal of time on the porch. It was great to see your attention to detail - very organized and stocked. Just need improved for hot water for shower. There was a little problem with electricity in the kitchen. When we used the toaster part of the kitchen electricity went off. But later on it turned back on ok.
Owner Response
We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for complimenting us on our attention to details. The hot water heaters in this home supply a total of 102 gallons. Because the house is so large you may have to wait about 20 seconds for the upstairs shower water to run fully hot when you turn it on first thing in the morning. I have tried to duplicate your electrical problem but have found that all receptacles are functioning normally. I suspect that the toaster plug had a little moisture on it when you plugged it in. The toaster plug is "GFCI Protected". (Required by building codes in kitchens and bathrooms.) If there is any moisture on a plug that's inserted it causes the protective local GFCI breaker to trip. 2 receptacles away there was one with a red reset button between the plugs that, when pressed, restores power to the entire series. I encourage our renters to use my phone # provided and call me with any questions or concerns. I live fairly close by and am very happy to help. You're welcome back any time!
Dearest Ridge Vacation Home! Thank you so much for your hospitality! Your home is absolutely gorgeous and we experienced a wonderful time of community which couldn't have happened without this perfect environment for us. We loved the fireplace and view as well. We wish you and the future guests blessings and joy today and always! We are so grateful for your welcoming and beautiful home that blesses so many! Love~
Thank you for everything. We had an awesome time and got to see lots of the Park and area. You guys have a beautiful home and thanks again for sharing it with us.
It's only been my first day here and we had sooo ..... much fun! The recliners are super comfy, the views are amazing! We already found a family (6-8) of deer! I love the trees and rocks. When my brother and I went to bed ..... we had an argument for who slept in what room! I'm sure I'll write more, but I'm hungry and it's 7 in the morning. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. What a perfect location to get away and relax as a family. And just enough time to take a day to go into Yosemite Park and enjoy the snow for a day! This land is beautiful and those trees are amazing with their bark looking like melted red wax ... never seen anything like it (manzanitas). Thank you ... Until next time.
The house is so beautiful. We saw deer and a variety of birds. We went exploring around the area. Kids had a great time. It looked like a perfect Holiday home with the Christmas Tree and decorations. Really awesome view from the bench in front of the house. So different from the busy life on Los Angeles where we come from. Will definitely recommend for future travelers.
What a beautiful house! Thank you for sharing it, we had a wonderful Christmas. All of us came for the first time to Mariposa and Yosemite and what a treat! Thank you for having a Christmas tree set up too. The girls were so thrilled to leave Santa cookies and pancakes under the tree. We loved the fireplace too. Many thanks. Best regards~
What a lovely respite from the busy life in the city. Your home is lovely, the surroundings tranquil, the views and peace refreshing. The morning visits by the deer family were a special experience. Thank you for a great memory. We will certainly be back, so look forward to our next visit.
Bruce and Magdalena, Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. The beds were very comfortable and everything was so nice and clean. We loved watching the hummingbirds and the kids loved exploring the rock outcroppings. We even got to see a fox one evening in your yard! We appreciated using the cooler and ice packs. This was a great place to stay! Thank you again!
As frequent travelers,we truly appreciated the cleanliness and attention to detail provided in your home. The labeling of light switches, handy tissue, coffee carafe and coolers made our stay that much more enjoyable. Beautiful views are just the icing on the cake. Only complaint is that we didn't have another week here. PS- We found great and humorous info in the "Complete Guide Book to Yosemite" by Steven P. Melly that you provided with your other literature.
Thank you for providing such a beautiful home for us to stay at. It has fulfilled all our expectations and beyond. The house has all the comforts of home on the inside and views beyond measure on the outside. We would never be able to see the stars or the beautiful vista that is here where we live. We came with our friends for each of our 35th wedding anniversaries. We have shared so many monumental moments in our lives over all these years. We thank you for becoming another wonderful memory for us to talk about. This has been a blessing to us and we ask the Lord to bless you both and all who you open your doors to. Until our paths cross again we wish you well. God Bless, R. and S. Also, we thank Bruce and Magdalena for ALL the helpful emails back and forth. The four of us have been EXTREMELY blessed throughout this trip. Our God is so good for all His provision. And this house was part of it. Thank you and bless you, in the name of Jesus Christ, and God Bless, C. and husband
This was our first experience living in a country house and we want to thank you for making it a perfect home experience. Your house is very beautiful and the views are really extraordinary. Thank you for everything.
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, Although just one night, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful and comfortable house. Thank you for thinking of so many details that made our stay comfortable and memorable! Best regards, N.and R. You have a beautiful place here! Arrangements were perfect. Even though we arrived at midnight, didn't have issues getting into the place. Thanks for the directions and instructions. We look forward to coming back and having an enjoyable and relaxing time again in this place. Thanks, D. and S.
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. Our family had a blast staying here. It's very charming and comfy. Loved seeing all the birds in the morning! It's a very quiet and tranquil place. We had a very relaxing Labor Day weekend. Thanks again~
Sinceramente~
Thank you for such a lovely vacation! The house is beautiful and the views - breathtaking!! Many, many lovely, wonderful memories. We had a wonderful week staying here with our family from L.A. The house is beautiful - like a model home! The surroundings are lovely too. We had a great time hiking in Yosemite and seeing all the beauty there, too! Really the best house we've ever rented - thank you!
Thank you for the opportunity to experience Mariposa and Yosemite wildlife surrounding this lovely home! We had a relaxing week and loved seeing the chipmunks, humming birds, and deer! Our two families felt at home and had a wonderful time. It was great to see your attention to detail - very organized and stocked.
Bruce and Magdalena, Pride in ownership show through and through. So glad that you have decided to share with those who find you. I will pass it on to friends and family. Great central location to everything - Airport, Lakes, Yosemite and Peace and Quiet! We have been using VRBO.com for a few years now, that's where we found you. Look forward to using you for Yellowstone in a couple of years. We go from beach to mountains every other year. Yosemite is just amazing! Cannot put it to words as I'm sure so many will agree. Probably re-visit in early spring or late fall. Got to try some rafting before I am too old. The driving here is something to get used to. Cranking 50-60 through the twists-n-turns gets some getting used to. I am sure the locals get sick of us tourists clogging up the roads. I don't blame them! Well thank you again for sharing your wonderful piece of America!
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, We really enjoyed your lovely and really comfortable home. Mariposa was charming - we liked the Savory's 1850 restaurant and the Pizza Parlor. Despite the fire and haziness we thoroughly enjoyed Glacier Point, Yosemite Valley, Mirror Lake and Vernal Falls. Your instructions to get up here were excellent. We appreciated how well organized everything in the house is. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. It made our yearly family reunion memorable. Best regards~
Now that my family has returned from your beautiful vacation home I wanted to say how pleased we were with it. It was an absolutely perfect match for my parents, my sister and her children and my small family. I really appreciated the quality of the home, linens, towels, etc. The bedrooms were a great size - they were just perfect. We also really appreciated the miscellaneous supplies such as tupperware, spices, zip locks in the kitchen that made cooking so easy! Our boys loved the wildlife … squirrels, wood peckers, deer, humming birds, chipmunks, the (very) friendly cat, the fox and the bobcat were so exciting! (I think the cat and the bobcat were one and the same but my 8 year olds swear they saw it.) We enjoyed many trips to Yosemite and the surrounding activities. We also spent a great deal of time on the porch watching birds who were drinking from the water fountain. It was a really great feature! Thank you again~
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, Thank you for the opportunity to rent your house. It helped our stay feel more like home. We enjoyed our visit to Mariposa and found Yosemite Park to be breathtaking. Thank you for your prompt attention to our needs. We enjoyed our stay in your beautiful home. We had a great time in a great home! Thanks again~
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, We are ever so grateful for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home in the gorgeous nature of Mariposa. Your home was well equipped with all of the necessary appliances which gave to a smooth and warm vacation. You gave us the opportunity to brand new memories with our close friends and loved ones. We hope to come back in the near future. Again, we thank you for the wonderful experience, especially seeing the deer up close in the morning. :)
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, We have had a most wonderful time in your vacation home. The splendors of Yosemite were a sight to behold and Mariposa itself was so lovely. Everything we needed to make our short vacation enjoyable was here. Set in marvelous surroundings your vacation home was "home away from home." I will recommend to my friends at home that if they are going to visit this area, yours is the place to stay. Thank you~
Thank you for opening up your home to our family. What a beautiful setting for a vacation home! We enjoyed spending our time here at Deer Ridge. We are looking forward to our next vacation in one of your Yellowstone vacation homes. Thanks again Magdalena and Bruce. Janet, Raymond, Michelle, Brandon, Tina, Robert
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, We had such a wonderful time here! Thank you for allowing us to stay in this amazing house. The back yard is absolutely amazing. The kids spent a lot of time playing there. The view from the front of the house is breathtaking. I hope we will come here again soon. Thanks a bunch~
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, Thank you so much for this lovely home! We enjoyed the scenery and the view from the front porch. We all wish we could live here. The 5 acres was a nice place to hang out and explore. The kids built a tee-pee house in the back yard, they had so much fun. Thank you so much for letting us stay here. We had a blast! Thanks ~ Chula Vista, CA
What a lovely home you have! It's so comfortable, and you have covered every need, from a beautifully stocked kitchen to games and DVDs. We all enjoyed walks, trips into Yosemite, town, and wildlife. On our last morning deer came and drank from the fountain. What a treat for us city folk! We will keep your number and call again. I will also recommend your home to others. Thank you!
Thanksgiving 2013 What a wonderful time we had here! The house is beautiful and so comfortable for a large group. The boys loved exploring the grounds, and bubble baths in the giant tub. We made wonderful family memories as we celebrated not only Thanksgiving but three birthdays among our group, including a milestone birthday for our patriarch! This is a beautiful part of the country and most of our group visited Yosemite for the first time. What a treat to take our aunt there, who is visiting the USA from Cuba. And to think this all came about because our mom purchased your dad's vacuum cleaner! Many thanks~
It was a great stay at your vacation home. We had a wonderful time. We would definitely recommend this place for our other friends as well. We would like to come back again for sure. Thank you so much!!!
We loved the house - 5 star all the way. It had everything we needed. We loved the views and the privacy. It really captured what we were looking for. We enjoyed walking the property and watching the deer stroll by daily. The bird watching was also great fun. We hope to be back when our son is old enough to hike. Thanks again!
This was a great "base camp" for our field excursions into Yosemite National Park. We enjoyed the cleanliness, the space and all the amenities provided. It was wonderful to watch the deer and many birds around the water fountain. We'll be back for sure.
We came from Japan. We were impressed by the setting and the house. It was nice to meet you at our arrival. A family of deer also welcomed us! It would be interesting to get to know the process of making the house such a nice place to stay for travelers around the world. Thank you so much to allow us to enjoy your beautiful home!! We loved it. Wish we had a longer stay…. We plan to visit Yosemite again in the future and we'd definitely love to stay at your house.
Thank you, thank you for the lovely, comfortable house in a bucolic setting. Your home was a great launching pad for our Yosemite adventures, but on our next trip we'll plan more time just to be here. My girls (aged 10.5) really enjoyed the morning "hummingbird wars" while eating breakfast on the back deck, and loved seeing all the wildlife - squirrels, woodpeckers, deer. We are already discussing our next trip here! Thanks for everything! J.M. What we liked was seeing all the humming birds and all the wildlife out in the front and back yards. We really liked the inside of the house, especially LOVED the Hot/Bath tub in the master bedroom's bathroom. Thanks a lot. (one of the twins) What I liked was everything including a buck (male deer) that was in the back yard! Thanks! (the other twin)
I love this house. I wish I could live here forever. I loved going on walks and seeing animals. I liked the views outside and the birds flying everywhere. Thank you Bruce and Magdalena for the chocolates and for giving us a good time at your house. (6 year old) I loved the birds and loved watching the deer! I liked taking a bath in the big tub along with my cousin. We played Monopoly and Anjuman. The humming birds are awesome! (5 years old) We all enjoyed your house and appreciate your good care for the customers! There are several small things that delighted us all around. Certainly a good reference! (Grand Dad)
Bruce and Magdalena, First, it was a pleasure meeting you! Second, your home is absolutely wonderful! Very comfortable and anything you would need is at your fingertips. Thank you for sharing it with us. Third, the critters here are amazing and so much fun to watch. The hummingbirds were my favorite but enjoyed all the birds that came to bathe and drink in the fountain. We also had the pleasure of seeing a buck and three doe several days that we were here. Saw a flock of turkey several times a couple of streets over. All in all, it was a wonderful week. We got a lot of rest! Thank you again for your hospitality. We’d highly recommend your home to anyone looking for a very nice, comfortable, accommodating home to stay in while away from home!
Our family came from all over to enjoy this beautiful section of our country and your spacious home was a perfect fit! We enjoyed wonderful days at Yosemite and delightful nights grilling out and playing games on the porch. Thank you so much!
Just wanted you to say thank you for the beautiful stay in this amazing house! We had a great stay and it was such a blessing to have a home-away-from-home to come back to after all that hiking. We loved cooking in the kitchen as a family as well as our nightly porch sits. Thank you for helping make these special times possible.
Who knew a week could fly by so fast? We have so enjoyed our time together as a family in your beautiful home. You truly have thought of every detail and made our stay so enjoyable. Four generations and we all felt comfortable! From Great Grandma Ellen to one year old Alex. Some of the highlights were: - dinners prepared in the kitchen together - card games around the spacious dining table - rocking the baby to sleep in the super comfy rocking chair - watching the sunrise on the bench in the front yard - enjoying the wildlife taking sips from the bird bath - lounging on the deck after a long day of adventures - sitting in our soft, cozy beds dreaming of our next family vacation :-) Thanks!!
As I sit watching the jays and hummingbirds at the fountain, it is hard to believe this is the last day of our week long stay. It has been such a relaxing visit. The landscape is so different from our home in Florida. At first it seemed dry and lacking in color, but as we sat on the patio watching the birds and squirrels play, the colors and beauty emerged and engulfed me. So many textures! Subtle shades of gold, brown and green. I've fallen in love with the Sierras. We have enjoyed exploring the property. The rock formations are so unique and beckon us to walk a bit further. Besides Yosemite National Park, we recommend a visit to Bass Lake and the museum and shops in Mariposa. My husband says to mention the abundance of fresh produce, especially the delicious strawberries - we ate a pint every day. They taste like they were dipped in sugar. Your home is beautiful. It has everything we needed to enjoy our time here. We would definitely recommend your vacation home to others.
Thank you so much for a lovely stay at your beautiful home! It was perfect for us, we had a wonderful experience. Thank you for making this such a clean, comfortable environment! We will absolutely come and stay here again soon! Many thanks ~ A.G. and Family - Fullerton, CA; Stockholm, Sweden and Long Beach, CA
Dear Bruce and Magdalena, Have had a wonderful time staying at Deer Ridge, a beautiful location. So relaxing and beautiful. Would highly recommend to our friends when they visit from the UK. Thank you for letting us stay at your holiday home - a vacation to remember. J.G. and Family ~ Wow-wee. What is that animal on the drive? It's a deer - well named place! Tim - love it.
We have loved spending time in your lovely home with such splendid views! The house has been so comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the decks and watching the hummingbirds, woodpeckers, finches and jays. ~ Magdalena and Bruce, What a beautiful setting for a vacation home! We truly enjoyed spending our evenings here at Deer Ridge. We did indeed have some 4 legged creatures (deer) join us for dinner on the back deck each evening. We will be sure to recommend this home to anyone we know heading in this directions. ~ Wow! What a wonderful setting for a home. The rock formations on the northeast corner of the property is a peaceful spot to rest.
Dear Magdalena, What a beautiful vacation home! We enjoyed the time here, spent a lot of time with nature enjoying the views. We will recommend this vacation home to friends and family. ~ Dear Magdalena, Thank you so much for welcoming us to your lovely vacation home. The views and location of this beautiful home helps relax and release all the stress. Everything was wonderful inside and out. Our purpose here was to enjoy the nature and we did. Thanks once again and may God bless you and this lovely vacation home! ~ Thank you!!! Bruce and Magdalena. God Bless you always… Awesome time! and awesome house!!! See you next time, definitely we come back …
What a lovely vacation home! Once again our family had a wonderful vacation using one of your vacation homes. The water fountains are a wonderful feature for attracting the birds. We saw many humming birds taking baths, plus numerous woodpeckers (3 at the fountain at once), blue jays and finches drinking. The deer were a pleasure to watch as they crossed the property. Our youngest grandchild loved the swing in the oak tree. After the quiet nights, we were able to enjoy our daily trips into Yosemite National Park. We are looking forward to our next vacation in one of your Yellowstone vacation homes. Thanks for your new vacation home in the Yosemite National Park area. P.S. Thanks for the coffee bean grinder! (grandparents) ~ An enjoyable week in the Sierras! Thanks for opening up your home to our family. We look forward to our annual family vacation. Staying in one of your vacation homes is becoming one of our traditions. Keep the light on…. (daughter) ~ I like all the TV shows and all the neat birds. (grandchild) ~
Dear Magdalena, We friends enjoyed as a family this wonderful home. Actually we didn't spend much time there, but the time we spent there were the most memorable and beautiful moments in our life. Every little things were so organized. The highlight was the scenic beauty of the surroundings and obviously we will be back in the winter. At a glance, it's a "Home Away From Home." Hopefully you will maintain the house like this in coming years. See you.
Owner Response
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in our home. We will definitely keep up our home so that when you come back it will look the same or even better! Thanks again, Magdalena and Bruce
I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your home this week in Mariposa. The weather for visiting Yosemite was perfect and it was even better to finish our day back at your home and relax. Truly a beautiful spot and the accommodations were excellent. We had everything we needed. Thank you again.
We had an absolutely wonderful time. Your home is beautiful, and we very much enjoyed the hours spent on the back porch eating and relaxing and enjoying the view. The spacious house gave our family a lot of room to spread out in, and was really comfortable. Hope we get to stay again sometime soon!
This comfortable home has the charm and space necessary for a relaxed family vacation in a most interesting part of the Gold Country near Mariposa. We almost became friends with the herd of deer that seem to call this ridge home. We loved the woodstove in the living room in the evenings while the daytime temperatures were in the high 60s and low 70s. Located at the end of the road we existed in our own private world while town was only minutes away. The small town feel and warm greetings from shop owners added to the fun. We especially enjoyed the Cooperative Art Gallery and a number of great restaurants including The Charles Street Dinner House. We had Yosemite almost all to ourselves, what a treat! Our side trip to Coulterville was fun and we had a good dinner at the Hotel Jeffery in the bar. We'll definitely be back to this beautiful home and area.
