Thanks for providing such a wonderful home for our vacation to Yosemite. The home is very thoughtfully laid out and has everything we could possibly need! We will definitely recommend your home to other visitors from Australia.Regards,Genevieve M. and family,Western Australia
Manzanita Hill is a very special place and we are very thankful for the opportunity to enjoy its many features. Most of all we have created many more memorials, of which my favorite was the "Jackalope." Can I live here please!! Much love and peace~
Thank you for your kind comments. It was our pleasure to have you all! We hope you will come back and visit us again soon.
This is the best vacation rental I have been in. Everything in the home has been completely remodeled and it looks and feels amazing. Lots of attention to detail such as labeling each wall switch so you don't have to play around to see what does what. Even the lock box had a mini flashlight next to it to better see the numbers at night. The house sits up quiet, nestled above the road. It is close to stores and restaurants and about an hour drive from Yosemite valley. We debated paying way more to stay in Yosemite park and have way less amenities. We are happy we made this decision to rent this beautiful home. The beds are super comfortable and the kitchen has every gizmo you could imagine. Thanks for an awesome experience in your beautiful home. We will be back for sure. FYI: Yosemite waterfalls are flowing better than I have ever seen. Simply breathtaking!
We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay in our home and so appreciate your kind words. We hope others will enjoy it as much as you did and we look forward to your next stay! Sincerely, The Owners of Manzanita Hill
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay at your beautiful home. We loved your decorating and all the special touches. The house is so comfortable and so well appointed! We had a wonderful dinner at the Savoury. Delicious food and excellent service. Sorry it was too cool to use the outdoor living areas - it looks so inviting.
This home is finished, stocked and cleaned to include every detail. It is an absolute joy to stay in. It is a beautiful and relaxing home. The owner has anticipated our needs in advance and provided for them. From soap, shampoo, conditioner and laundry detergent, this is a generous owner. There are plenty of towels and wash cloths and the very comfortable beds are already made and ready to be used. The pictures don't even begin to do this property justice and it is so quiet!! We visited Grace Community Church, Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia and used this home as our base. Yosemite was packed. It was so refreshing to come "home" here.
Our trip to Manzanita Hill was amazing. The house is so beautiful and our two families hate leaving. While here we were able to visit the Yosemite Valley, cool off in the river by the Swinging Bridge and see the huge redwoods at Nelders Grove. We also were able to eat delicious ice cream at Reimers (in Oakhurst) and enjoy the many beautiful stars on the patio at night. We loved our stay and hope to return next year. It is an experience our families will never forget!
I have been staying at VRBO properties for over 15 years. This is by far one of the nicest properties I have ever stayed in; and without question, the owners have thought of everything you will need during your stay.
Wow, this is such a nice compliment! Thank you so much. We hope you will visit us again. :-)
July 22-27, 2016 Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! There are no words to describe how much we enjoyed our stay at Manzanita Hill! Great for the soul! A welcome respite after a day of hiking. Loved the outdoor seating, the gourmet kitchen including the great cookware and coffee mugs, and the smell of pine so clean and inviting. 5 stars! Thank you for sharing this with us all!
This home is beautiful inside and out! It has everything you need including many gourmet kitchen items! When you arrive, be sure that you check the house first before you buy your food, as there are extra condiments and other consumables in the kitchen already. Also, please read the manual. It has lots of information in it that will help you plan your stay. Home is very clean, and I felt completely at ease because of this. No carpet though, but the floor rugs are beautiful. Please be aware if you travel prior to summer 2017 that Mariposa Grove is closed to renovations. If you are traveling with small children, there is a highchair and I think I also saw a Pack n Play in the master bedroom. However, you might want to bring an extra DVD or 2 for your child if you don't want them watching Nickelodeon. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend or acquaintance.
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay in our home and we feel fortunate to have had you as our guests! Since Manzanita Hill is located between the two Yosemite entrances, our guests can drive in one way and out the other for two completely different geographic experiences. As an alternative to Mariposa Grove (until park renovations are complete), there is Nelder Grove, above Oakhurst, towards Yosemite, off Highway 41. We will be adding to the children's DVD library!
Great place. Everything is brand new and all top quality furnishings and appliances. Everything you need is provided. Highly recommend as a great place to stay for visiting the park. One of the nicest rental properties we have every stayed in and we have stayed in quite a few.
Thank you Celine and Gary for letting us stay in your wonderful home. The house is fantastic, beautifully done out with quality contents. There was everything we needed here so we never needed to eat out. Instead we spent lots of time in Yosemite (where we even saw a bear!) and at Bass Lake. We hope to come back to the area and would love to stay again.
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay at your beautiful home! Everything was so clean and comfortable. This was a perfect home-away-from-home. We loved all of the little touches around the home, the labels on all the light switches, the tips and instructions, the DVDs and games, the shampoo. Wow! You really provided everything! We all wished we could stay another day. Thank you for sharing this gem, and we hope to one day visit again! Sincerely~
Thank you so much for making this trip so special using your beautiful home. We were too busy to enjoy it during the day (the vineyards, Charlie Brown Museum, petrified forest, Giant Sequoias, Bass Lake and off course Yosemite). But when we came home to greet us were the deer, the bunnies and the hummingbirds. Your home made us feel loved!!! Thank you again!
December 16-30, 2016 Thank you for decorating the house for the holidays, moreover putting up a Christmas tree for our children. We are enjoying your lovely place; it is very meticulously maintained and tastefully decorated. Every room window has a picturesque view - a complete surrender to nature and peace. The house has all the necessities; thoughtful touches are deeply appreciated. Without us contacting the owner, he offered to supply more firewood so we won’t be short of it. Kindness goes a long way! Merry Christmas and Joyous Holidays! Ida S. and family Los Angeles
The property was immaculate and stocked with all the comforts of home. The kitchen was large and spacious and the bedrooms were darling and comfortable. The location was ideal for day trips to Yosemite. We were able to experience the beauty of the park from both the Mariposa and Oakhurst entrances.
We had a great time at the house - it was properly heated and decked with all essentials and more - With kids it was a charm with the wonderful backyard and lobby to run through. The aesthetics of the house was wonderful and kind of gave that old grandma home feeling - we enjoyed our stay here and will love to visit back whenever possible again. Love from NJ !!
Excellent base camp from which to drive to Yosemite and to return to after a day of hiking. Located on a private piece of property but close to Mariposa with its restaurants as well as a good grocery store to obtain supplies to cook meals in in a well appointed kitchen or on a nice grill on the deck.
Manzanita Hill was a wonderful place to stay for our family Yosemite vacation! The house is beautifully decorated and so clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed and because we arrived late at night we appreciated all the labels on the light switches! The fireplace was all ready for a nice fire, which we truly enjoyed! We would highly recommend this lovely house to future travelers. Craig and Mary Butler & family Cedarburg, WI
We loved this property! It was very clean and a great place to relax after a long day in Yosemite. We were affected by the Detwiler fire, but the response from the owner and property manager was very impressive. We are looking forward to staying here again!
We're so glad you were able to enjoy a little quality time at our home and in the park. It's so unfortunate that you had to cut your stay short due to the power outage in our area. You were a pleasure and we truly hope you will come back to visit us again in the future!
The property owners have thought of everything! Clear instructions for the house and directions for the park. Being able to stay in this beautiful home made our family visit so enjoyable. We could relax and visit and not be on top of each other. We had a wonderful time! Wish we could have stayed longer! Thanks so much!"
Manzanita Hill house was a perfect choice for our two families, visiting Yosemite! We had a short but very relaxing stay at this beautiful home! The well stocked kitchen made it easy to make our meals, the rooms were so nicely appointed, we felt very comfortable and completely relaxed. We highly recommend staying here!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful house. We have stayed at a few houses listed on VRBO, and this one rates among our favorites. Very inviting and cozy, and loved the fresh Christmas tree. The fully equipped kitchen was perfect for a delicious breakfast to start our day. Loved the outside area also. Happy New Year!
"We loved staying here. You have thought of all the extras. Plenty of towels and a well-equipped kitchen. Loved the patio. This is a great location for Yosemite. Your home is so welcoming. We'll recommend!"
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay in our home and hope you will come back to visit our beautiful region again. Thank you so much for choosing us!
The property was wonderful to walk with fantastic outdoor space for entertaining. The home is clean and well stocked. The home owners are very kind and caring. They have considered daily living and provided everything necessary as far as amenities to make one feel at home. The kitchen has equipped with any cooking need, the bathrooms hold soaps, lotions, first aid kit, etc. The laundry room has all necessary items for laundry. They have really thought of everything! The location is close to Bass Lake, Yosemite and just down the street from Mariposa. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay for our mini-vacation.
We stayed fourteen nights. After learning that we had caused minor damage, the owners sent us a written message expressing anger. They grossly overcharged us for repairs. For example, we broke a ratty old mop. The owners charged us for a brand-new mop. We chipped the easily-damaged fiberglass basin in the shower. The owners opted for an expensive repair rather than simply using a repair kit designed to repair fiberglass. We are careful with other people's property, but this is a glass house. The property is nice but isolated. Long drives to either entrance to Yosemite. No advantage to being midway between two entrances to the park.
We were so disappointed to see this one star rating. We go to great lengths to personalize the house so that each guest feels right at home. This includes making sure everything is in tip-top shape since our recent renovation. We feel repairs should be done professionally and not by using a kit. Given our somewhat remote location in the foothills, $140.00 for a proper repair does not seem unreasonable given that the repair also involved a curing time before completion. Because of this, our property was unavailable for other guests, a cost we did not include. There was not a “ratty old mop” in the home, and again, the cost of replacement is negligible. Accidents happen, we understand this and normally our guests reach out to us. We’ve not had to seek out a guest and then have it end in a dispute about such a sensible, inexpensive solution. Yosemite National Park is remote and an extended stay like this one enables guests ample opportunities to visit Yosemite Valley, to and from, two scenic perspectives with the same travel time to the park, along with visits to Bass Lake, quaint gold country towns, Sequoia National Park and so much more.
The home was very nicely appointed with everything we could need. We all loved sitting out on the deck. It made a nice jumping off point for exploring the park and fun shopping and dining in Mariposa. Our only suggestion would be that the twin bed mattresses need to be replaced - they were very mushy and uncomfortable. Otherwise the furnishings and decor was lovely. Thanks!
Your home provided the perfect base-camp for us during our recent visit to Yosemite! We entered the park through the Arch and South entrances and the drives were both beautiful! We ate breakfast and dinner at home each day and the roomy kitchen provided plenty of counter space for all of us to participate in prep and clean up. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!
I wish I could give more than 5 stars because this house was so wonderful! Beautiful inside and out. We loved the outdoor space and enjoyed evenings out there after a long, tiring day at the park. Plenty of room for our family of 7. Awesome, gourmet kitchen with everything you'd ever need to cook meals. Comfortable beds and gorgeous bathroom attached to the master bedroom. The drive to the park averaged an hour and 20 minutes, but we didn't mind the drive as it was scenic and we saved money by staying outside the park. We really loved the town of Mariposa with it's great restaurants and shops. I highly recommend this property and wouldn't hesitate from staying there on our next trip to Yosemite!
This is one of the loveliest places we’ve ever stayed at! Charming accommodations in a beautiful private setting! There were even deer frolicking in the yard! Kitchen was stocked with every possible gadget we could need. Beds were extremely comfortable. It was a bit further from Yosemite than we expected (about an hour) but the drive was lovely so we got used to it. Would highly recommend this place to anyone!
Thank you for all the little details added. Great information let in personal notes. Extremely clean and beautifully decorated in mountain decor. Every kitchen gadget you can ask for. Loved staying here, would do it again and highly recommend.
Our family had an awesome stay at Manzanita Hill. The house was very clean and that was so important to me. Plenty of room for our family of 6. The kitchen was fantastic with everything you needed to cook and entertain. It was fun to walk around the property and enjoy nature. Deer would come into the yard daily and we also saw some coyotes. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace and the plethora of wood stacked out on the porch. This house sits in the middle of the south and west entrances to Yosemite. We did both drives and they were beautiful. The little town of Mariposa was cute. We would definitely stay again. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
We had such a WONDERFUL time here in your gorgeous home, surrounded by this beautiful area!! I appreciate the decor and amenities, as well as how clean and tidy everything is. Such a nice drive into the park, as well as Mariposa and Oakhurst. Our kids said that this is their "favorite cabin ever!" We will definitely come again!
After a long flight and three hour drive we were welcomed first by deer in the yard, then a beautiful fireplace ready to light. A spacious kitchen that meet all our needs and everywhere you looked there were those little “touches” that make a house a warm and inviting home. Because we spent our days in the park we didn’t get a chance to take advantage of the beautiful deck. After a long day exploring, the well appointed kitchen area with plenty of seating, became the perfect gathering spot to share pictures and stories. Privet and quiet setting. Overall we didn’t have any issues and were very happy. Any questions I had were answered immediately with a phone call.
Thank you for your lovely review! We are so pleased you enjoyed our home while visiting Yosemite National Park. We're equally pleased that the resident deer were there to greet you as the welcoming committee. We hope you'll come back and visit us again. CDR Owner, Manzanita Hill Vacation Home
Manzanita Hill will forever hold a special place in our hearts. It made our first trip to Yosemite an unforgettable one! We celebrated my Dad's 61st Birthday there and it was an absolute perfect and memorable time thanks to the lovely home and its many amazing amenities. We cooked, we sang, laughed and made beautiful memories that we will cherish for many years to come! The hosts provided us a binder filled with helpful info on Yosemite / surrounding areas. There are several awesome restaurants (Such as Charles Street Dinner House and Don Rubens) and grocery stores only 15-20min away from the house. Also, fresh coffee is being roasted right down the street at the Mariposa Coffee Company. You can't beat that! On the other hand, getting to Yosemite Valley took us approximately an hour to an hour and 30min from the house depending on which route we took (140 vs 41). Taking the 140 is a scenic route and technically quicker, and you enter through the West Entrance. But taking the 41 (slightly longer route) allowed us to pass through Oakhurst and later through the Tunnel View (highly recommended) and allowed us to visit the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias (South Entrance). Furthermore, we LOVE how detail-oriented everything was ♥️ Also loved and appreciated how neat and tidy the place is ... DREAM HOME and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Don't miss out on this home. We hope to visit again some day!
We're absolutely delighted that you and your family were able to share such a special time during your visit to Yosemite and very pleased that your experiences at Manzanita Hill could be a part of it. We all thank you and look forward to your return visit one day!
We were really happy with our stay in Mariposa. It is the best base for visiting the West and South entrance of Yosemite. The house is perfect and so well equipped throughout. It was really handy to have things like cool boxes and ice packs provided for picnics in the parks. We loved the way the property was furnished throughout and how peaceful the location was, specially with the deer walking around on the drive! If you want to feel like a luxury Clint Eastwood this is the house for you!
We're so pleased you enjoyed your international visit to our area and our home. Thank you!
My family had a peaceful and relaxing stay at Manzanita Hill. The home was comfortable, well appointed, immaculate, and had many personal touches that made it feel like home. We looked forward to returning to the home each day after venturing out to Yosemite and the surrounding areas. This home has everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable stay. Highly recommended!
Thank you very much! We're very pleased you enjoyed your stay at Manzanita Hill and your day trips to Yosemite and our local towns. We hope you'll be back to stay with us again.
This home and property was just what the doctor ordered for our family. The kitchen was stocked with just about everything you need minus the food. The owners provide thorough instructions and even supply maps for local touring and entertainment. The home is gorgeous and very clean and pristine. The owners provided many extras including toiletries, ( toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, laundry detergent) Firewood was supplied which we needed because it ended up being very chilly during our stay. The bedrooms are very nice with beautiful decor. The views from all of the windows are just amazing. The property has nice trails to go walking where you may run into some deer and lots of birds, and at the top of the hill of course you have a Mountain View!! It was just the best place. I highly recommend, and I am a very picky person when it comes to rentals. The owners aim to please and they now have another regular guest!!
We appreciate your lovely review and are thrilled you enjoyed yourselves and enjoyed Manzanita Hill. We've had a long wonderful spring season and the extra rain has extended it with green grasses and wildflowers which has provided abundant water everywhere! We truly appreciate you and look forward to your next visit! Thank you.
We arrived very late at night and it was dark so the directions given was very very helpful. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our day hikes to Yosemite park. The shortcut directions to the park was perfect! Loved the scenery. My in-laws and daughter decided to stay at the cabins while my husband, son, and I hike Half Dome so everyone enjoyed their stay. It is a bit far from the park but the cabin has plenty of things to entertain everyone in our party and was a lot updated and comfortable than those closer to the park. Grocery stores is close by and it was a very safe and peaceful place. I just loved and was impressed at how clean it was! We don’t wear shoes in the house so when we walked in, the floors felt as clean as we keep them at home. The house was organized and well kept, I have OCD so I appreciated the every detail of it.
This house exceeded our expectations. The layout, amenities, and attention to detail all added up to one of the best vacation rental experiences we have ever had. The kitchen appliances, bedding, and towels are all in top condition. This is a great house for relaxing and having space for friends and family. The kitchen, dining, and living area is a large open space and the deck on the back of the house is a great spot for relaxing in the mornings and evenings. Everything is new and in great condition. If you are looking for a quiet place that is secluded in the countryside, then this would fit your needs. It is about 38 miles from the entrance to Yosemite, so it takes over an hour to drive there because the roads are very windy and can be slow if you get stuck behind slower traffic or have some road construction. Some added features that are really nice are the very detailed welcome guide with maps and instructions for operating most everything in the house, all of the storage spaces are labeled so you can easily find things, and having a washer/dryer is a nice benefit. We had a family of four staying here and had plenty of room. This is a great place that I would recommend!
