Swimming off the dock, fishing, boating, hiking, biking, sunsets; plus day-trips to Mesa Falls, Harriman State Park, Grand Teton Park and more! WIFI.
Lakefront Retreat is located in the private gated community of Bills Island on the shore of the Island Park Reservoir. (The Island Park Reservoir was created many years ago by a dam along the Henrys Fork of the Snake River, a world renowned trout fishing river.) Swim and fish right off our private dock. Use our boat slip for your own boat or one of the many kinds of watercraft that can be rented only 1/4 mile away. They also rent bicycles, and a water trampoline that can be delivered right to the cabin waterfront. You can also rent ATV's, snowmobiles, and other equipment there. [You can ride ATV's (and snowmobiles in winter) directly onto the local trail system that connects for hundreds of miles and goes all the way to the border of Yellowstone Park!] We provide the following items at the house: one paddle board, one angler's kayak and two children's kayaks; with life jackets. Additionally, there are two sets of snorkeling gear. There is always deep water in the reservoir right behind this cabin, even in years when water levels may be reduced for the use of farmers downstream. Our west-facing deck, with its own fire pit, borders the water and connects to a floating walkway to the dock and boat slip. The deck is a great place to enjoy beautiful sunsets as you relax and discuss all the amazing possibilities for the days to come. The west entrance of Yellowstone Park is only 32 miles away. Horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and cross-country skiing are available in nearby Harriman State Park. Amazing and powerful Mesa Falls is also a short trip away. An all-day trip to visit Grand Teton National Park is also possible from this home.

Cabin was great. Would be even better in the summer. We enjoyed the large, well heated living room with lots of glass windows overlooking the lake. Only negative was a bad smell in the two upstairs bedrooms. An open window would have helped, but it was too cold outside for that.
I am so glad you had a good time. I am sorry about the smell. We had just painted the hallway underneath the bedrooms 6 days previous. I thought smell would be gone by the time you arrived. Come in the summer.! Call for discount.
Pros: Beautiful view, wonderful neighborhood, great lake Cons: Arrived to overwhelming smell of pine-sol that took over a day to dissipate, no screen on slider and is main window so chipmunks come inside if trying to vent/cool down house, arrived to full dishwasher and dryer full (supposed to do dishes and dry towels upon leaving so are guests expected to unload/put away before they can do dishes and towels?), hammock broken, despite nauseating smell of pine-sol house was not clean, candy wrappers were stuffed all over apparent no one had done anything more than a surface clean, master bedroom mattress is long overdue to be replaced, broken down/sunken in middle, had to move beds, advertises a paddle board but only an old short surf board so couldn't go out on water together, water heater so small that even for two people had to wait for a hot shower (other reviewers had posted this for large family), dishes chipped, gate to dock broken, as pine-sol smell wore off very dusty/musty smell. Do not recommend.
I am glad you enjoyed the view, the lake and the neighborhood. I remember speaking with you and addressing some of your concerns while you were staying there. I am sorry to hear you felt they weren’t resolved. Here is my response to your issues: - I am sorry there were dishes in dishwasher and a few towels in the dryer. I have talked to the cleaning crew and they are sorry this happened. This is not how the house is normally left and it was an oversight on their part. I apologize on their behalf and will check up on them from now on so this can be prevented in the future. - the previous guests had put a hole in the paddleboard and it filled with water. I have two new ones on order. You never expressed any desire to use it. I could have easily borrowed one for you. - I have replaced the hammock. - there are two water heaters that each provide 50 gallons of hot water which should be enough unless people take extremely long showers because they are used to doing that in the city with “hot water on demand." Your booking was for 2. - the queen size bed in the master bedroom actually has a down topper that can look saggy if not fluffed up, but it’s actually quite comfortable. However I have decided to replace the mattress. - the gate to the dock has been fixed. - I will get a screen door installed in the sliding glass door leading to the backyard so people will be able to air out the room. It’s unfortunate that you didn’t express some of these concerns when we talked, I could easily have solved some of these issues right away. Sincerely, Owner of Lakefront Retreat
If you like boating and water activities in a perfect reservoir location you will not beat this IP Bills Island cabin. The dock accommodates a large boat with nice border protection. The cabin has a great sunset view to the west and additional fun lawn activities (horseshoe pits, large lower and upper level tables, hammocks, campfire pit). The cabin has a large kitchen and family room that makes for fun gatherings for the whole group. The owner is very gracious and easy to work with. We will use again if dates are accessible.
Thank you for the wonderful positive feedback! Loved meeting you all.
